I would have shoved all-in preflop
But yes you did have a bad beat, but you could have avoid it by an all-in.

With a short stack in preflop still had to go allin

LOL sometimes it's just like that. Keep your head up!
Anyway with a small stack like that i've rather go allin preflop in that situation.

I have learnt a lot from the lessons and videos that they have on their site. and in all my time I have never seen anyone on there say that if you have <3BB you should just call and see what happens. You would have been advised to more than likely shove earlier on with a slightly weaker holding to put pressure on your opponents.
