I wanted to see everyone's thought on going all in when you UTG. I was playing a Turbo MTT last night and I had about 6 BB in my stack. I was dealt AJ suited so I went after thinking about it I decided to go all on. I was called by one person with a pair of deuces.

I ended up losing the hand and I can't help but thinking that was the wrong play. Maybe I should have just raised minimum and shook him off with a c bet?

It sounds like you were short stacked. Depending on the situation of the tournament: how many players left, your position, how close you are to the money, ect. This play might have been pretty smart, seeing as you had to double up at sometime if you wanted to win the tournament.

AJ is a good shove from UTG with 6BB so from that perspective its good.

With 6BB you can only play premium hands from UTG.

My UTG range with 6BB would probably be 22+, A9o, KTs+, KQo

If you fold, next hand youll be the big blind.

Remember, this is even turbo.

In chess, we call this a "force move".

I would play even more widely:
each aces, suited connectors 56+ and other connectors 10J+ you should double up quickly

Think about what is your target? be in the money? or maybe you want win more?
With 6 bb is the easiest game... Push or fold (you only fold weakest cards like 2-7) easy play

Not even a question in this situation. Have to push. Have to. "First in Vigorish" I believe is what Dan Harrington called it. The Gap Theory also applies. You force others to reconsider their hand if you shove early. The problem is if your stack isn't big enough. 6BB's probably won't chase big stacks away...but, it's worth a shot.

With 6BB you shouldn't be playing premiums from UTG, you should be shoving quite wide.

Your shoving range here is way to tight of that stack size.
