I'm finding it incredibly hard in the rebuy tournaments to make it past the first hour or two with all of the "all-in idiots" without dumping oodles of money into rebuying myself. They always end up lucking out with their 2 7 offsuit or something alike.

Any advice on how to stick it out during the rebuy period?

I play most loose in stage re-buy and tihgt in Freezeou. but, I do not do bets without a reason.
I can do one rebuy if I lose the chips.
Freezeout stage shoots some special circumstances. The most important thing is to observe how people change their style by comparing them with how they played during the re-buy.

In stage re-buy a lot of players like to go all-in. Answer only with monsters.

Stop playing rebuys would be my advice. I hate the whole structure of most rebuys, its basically a coin flip the whole tournament. Its alot like chess you have your short games which force you to move fast and your longer games where you can strategically destroy your opponent slowly and make decisions with some sort of a plan.

The most important thing is patience. I waited a strong hand and made them all. If necessary, repeat! :) It's simple.

So true.

@OP if you are having problems with rebuy tourneys, try non-rebuy and try to past a few hours in that table, that will increase your skills and naturally your gameplay.

I like rebuy tournaments. I immediately do a rebuy, before I accidently win a hand and then have too many chips to rebuy. You have to figure the entry is three times the stated amount. One rebuy and the add on =3x. Play tight, and be willing to call that all in if you have a good hand. If you should lose it, then do a double rebuy and start over. One strategy that may help you save money is to wait until half of the rebuy period is over before you join. That is especially good advice if the buyin is large. If it is small, $5 or less, there will be a lot of all ins as people try to quadruple up. That should be your goal also, but do it with good hands only. you will catch some of those "all in with any two" idiots.

If it's hard for you to play in rebuy tournaments with people that constantly go all in,then you shouldn't play in these tournaments at all.You should play in freezeout tournaments where there won't be as many people that go all in all the time as in rebuy tournaments.

Since you arent rebuying, dont stick it in without Jacks or better. The structure is made to pump up peoples stacks.

One thing that id suggest is be able to rebuy twice in these tournys It always seems like there is one time you have a 50/50 in that period. Go for it then you can rebuy.

Or you can not play them.

This is a double sided thing. On one side players are winning with dumb luck bets, on the other they are losing and you're reaping the chips and getting bulked up to help you make it to the money.

I dont play many of these tourneys.
There is a however a micro I play on Full Tilt which I register late for.
I find that if I leave it an hour till entering, then the game play seems to be better.

Just keep within your bankroll, thats the main thing.

Rebuy Tourney's

With rebuy tournaments then you can do a late reg so that you can avoid most of that nonsense. Or you can play tight and hope to double up a couple of times. I know it is frustrating when you have to fold a good hand here and there, especially when it hits on the flop and you know you would have all of their chips, but patience will get you there eventually.

Yes for real poker I would avoid rebuy/add-on tournaments. Especially if the double-rebuy is an option. Lots of shoving going on, I'm looking to play real poker not gambling.

I agree. Freeze outs constitute a better game of skill over luck, and less donkout flip sessions. Rebuys and Addons are vastly implemented for the sites to generate more rake, as the players get drawn in, by the higher GTD. This happens a lot, with freerolls and moderate-GTD ($200-500) $1 buy-in tourneys with unlimited rebuys, like PKR's $500 GTD / $1 buy-in Crazy Stack tourneys, with unlimited rebuys. This was previously revised from the original 4-rebuy limit, to generate more rake, and to attract more players. Strange enough, it worked.

This also creates a tip in the scales during unlimited rebuy tourneys, for the high-BR players with 'not scared' money to easily chip-up, and gain a distinct advantage.

I think I'm getting it

[I just started playing freerolls on Americas Cardroom and was having the same problem. Only been playing there a couple weeks, but I think I'm getting them figured out. I try and play only premium hands whenever they make a big raise. I just finished 33rd out of 8000 so I think its working. That payed me $100 and i have cashed in 2 other tourneys. Give it a try!quote=steelwheel92;2872271]I'm finding it incredibly hard in the rebuy tourn:Daments to make it past the first hour or two with all of the "all-in idiots" without dumping oodles of money into rebuying myself.
