I am new to the online poker so my question is can someone tell me if the big tourneys any different to play in that the 5 and 10 ? If so how are they different? I would also like to know which ones are the best chance of winning bigger money say over a grand.

depends what you mean by the same? same formatt same standard same variant?

based on you saying on winning big money i assume you mean toughness.

as a generic rule the higher the buyin the tougher the standard. This is usually the case However there can be exceptions.

It stands to reason because the best players will want to make as much money as they can so will target the highest stakes they can afford.

However the ratio of how much you need to win or deep you need to run is totally different. Eg a $215 buyin tournament would not require a significantly deep run to bag $1000 where as in a $5 tournament etc most of the time you will need at least a final table and often even first to take down $1000+.

as a new player it is unlikely that you could make a profit long term at higher stakes however with some study thinking and hard work it is feasible that you might be able to grind out a profit at the smaller stakes.

trying to hit a one off target of $1000 is bad are you in financial trouble? I would say gambling is not the answer but it has saved me before so i would be a hypergrite there.

However I had a winning track record to back up my attempt so it was like going to work where as by the sounds of it you would just be taking a wild shot and hoping to get lucky.

if your going to make proper money in Poker you should aim for a grinders target not a one hit wonder.

EG saying I have 2% win rate $10 games and can play 50 games an hour so I want to make $1000 by the end of the month, is not a bad thing. we make $10 an hour so if we aimed to play 3 and a half hours a day that make our target feasible.

of course results can fluctuate it may depending on game etc be feasible for you to lose money after this period but the odds are in your favor in this example.

playing Mtts hoping to hit the big score, when your new and have no experience or roll to withstand the variance is effectively gambling and more likely then not you will come out losing.

If you want to do the latter I dont recommend it but I dont see why you dont just save yourself the time and effort and play roulette.

If you want to win big you have to play high rollers. Unless you wish to play for less money but with a lot more players.

is it harder to win with the small cap tourneys ?
i would think it would be harder because there are so many players who do not take the game seriously

too many variables for this to make sense. this can all be summed up mathmatically once we have some figures.

it depends firstly on the edge you have on the player pool. which would depend on your skill level vs the standard average. for $50 games you would on the face of it need only 20% of the edge that you would need for $10 games.

10% of 10 is 1. 2% of 50 is $1. However if there are less players then your 2% edge could be better then the 10% edge because your duration of time would be less.

also the bigger your edge the less the variance will be but the more players the bigger the variance is.

in simple terms it depends on your ability. if we ask which games have the most money opportunity it would likely be the highest stake ones. However your not going to be up the standard to win at those and will be a losing player. if you were capable of beating the top stakes you would not have started this thread other then to troll.

so what it would come down to you is the best stake level for you, which would depend entirely on your skill level. I recommend doing no research or thinking what so ever, and just playing as many six max satellite hyper turbo games that you can find.

Mainly because thats my game now and I prefer easier money.
