So I play online way more often than live (I just turned 21 a couple months ago, so I have only played like 4 or 5 live tournaments). Anyways, I was in the mid stages of a tournament and looked down at Ah7c. I was in position so I just flatted and saw a flop with 3 other players. The flop was all red. Now, being the online player I am, I am used to that meaning that the flop was all hearts (because of 4color deck) so anyway after heavy action on the flop and two other players betting, I decided to shove on my flush draw because it was getting late in the tournament and the pot was massive. It turns out that there were only 2 hearts on the flop and the other red card was a diamond....so anyways someone snap called my shove (he had a set of tens) and then, in an unexpected suckout, I hit the backdoor flush! Hahaa

Yeah the guy with the set was fine and just calmly left the table but the guy who folded (there were three of us in the pot) after he invested a lot in the pot was making remarks on what a foolish play it was. I just laughed my way to the final table, and we ended up chopping for $140 each.

4 colour decks are almost essential for mass multitabling.

I never even considered the implications. Maybe I'm more old school than I realize, but the four color deck just doesn't look right to me.

And how about playing cards with two corners cut, to keep you from accidently turning cards the opposite way in the deck. I have the hardest time shuffling those.

This.
It looks weird at first, but you get used to it. Never had a problem differentiating when it's live poker though.

Well, it was foolish IMO. Welcome to poker. You suck out & other times people suck out on you.

About two weeks after Ivey mucked the winning flush on TV. Doh.

I did the EXACT SAME THING with a 4d. I still don't know how I did that. What I was thinking. Some kind of fog.

Just four different colours to make checking suits quick and easy. It essential when playing 10+ tables to make decision fast.

I have not played for very long and started out with a normal deck of cards on the kitchen table but I will always use the 4-colour deck when I play online. I just cannot imagine getting it confused. It is not like you have to grab your mouse and make some fast click decision at a live table. Maybe if you were very nervous playing for first time I guess but it is still hard for me to imagine making that mistake at a live game.

I must remember this when I play live! I don't like the look of a four color deck, but as said above, when multi tabling it is an essential tool!

Will never get used to green spades and blue diamonds though!

I totally agree with this. If you don't use 4 colors, it makes it so much harder to multi table. And it never negatively affected my live play ... yet.

The chance of making a mistake with 2 colours online, seems to me to far greater than making this kind of mistake live.

Love a 4 color deck. Glad you had lady luck on your side. Lady luck sure pays me out a lot more than when I have used my skill.
