$25+$1.50 10 player double up sng last 1 hour 8 minutes. halfway through i caught some convincing hands and ended up dropping down to 200 chips. five or so hands later i was back up to 2,900+ chips. once blinds went up at one point i dropped back down to 500- chips and flipped that back up enough to end up top 5 in the money! cool thing about it a player "stax" something.. done the same thing he got down to 290 chips and ended up not only in the money but at the time tourney stopped i think he was 1st. it was a real FUN sng. Good Game to everyone!

Sounds like you played it like a normal SNG. Double ups are the most boring form of NL IMO

Obviously I didn't see the hands but it sounds like you might not be using correct double up strategy. You generally want to take less risks because there is no reward for being the big stack. Once/if you get a big stack you can probably just fold to the money only playing premium cards.

I like beginner tournaments where 4 spots pay but you are still rewardedfor winning the thing.

@Extreme Fishing they're not boring lol...sometimes they are no lie tho lol.

@gnarus i like to play them the same why i play any sng. rarely will i just fold to go into the money(in any tourney) i think doing that hurts my game even if it means placing in the money, although occasionally i will. yeah the beginner tourneys are fun too!

Making the money is the whole point of a DON. Goal of a DON IS to make the money.

No, sorry, they are very very boring and pointless, and also the key to being profitable is winning normal tourneys. Playing double up you sacrifice so much in winnings that in the end you can't win anything like a meaningful amount. Please learn to play "proper" SNG's, you will 1. learn more and b. make more in the long run.......

@double up Sngs are ok to play if you've suffered few bad beats or lost decent amount of money and just want to play lower stakes and double some pocket change, this particular one i discussed in thread happened to be a fun double up sng.

yeah double ups are not my fav ... the only thing i can add is to re-adjust your short stack thinking ... going oh well and shoving with 10X the big blind is not what you have to do ... but yeah as somebody else pointed out ... it can be boring ... still if your in it, then win it or, at least, come in the money :)

some advice: play a lot of early on hands when you are close behind the button. There seems to always be at least on or two overly aggressive players so be aware of them and the fact they want to either go out guns blazing or get a big chunk of someones stack
