Looking to see what others think of these types of (to me at least) Lucktard Donkfests and how they would approach them.

Today a new site (FullFlush) is having a soft launch with a freeroll for those who have signed up already. That cool and all, and I really do appreciate a site willing to give to it's members but am lost to what's the purpose when at this moment it's 211 players shooting for a fixed ITM of 5 spots (2.3%).

To me this eliminates good play at least in the early stage and possibly mid stage as well. Personally for myself and if I even get to play due to personal commitments I will mostly fold and shove pre-flop as I expect this to be a horrible game.

Am I wrong to think of it this way? Should I be employing some other strategy in the early and mid stages?

5 spots itm is a long way to go through that many players and would mean less itm's. But on a positive side a good finish will = more money for itming. buy ins I would want my refund as soon as possible but a freeroll I think the more work for a bigger prize would be fine. Personaly I think it would help ones play because your playing for the final table. With the itms spread out I know i have situations when I start trying to hold out to the itm and not play when i should.

On a further note I played that game you were talking about it wasn't to bad on My table 5 bb starting stack a bit rough tho. I ended up shoving 77 later in caught the set on flop but the poker gods weren't on my side today I don't guess lost to a flush on the river left me with less than a big blind ended up going out about 53rd or something.

Well I started playing tournaments, exactly as cash, I mean, I play like I would in cash if I had the same amount of blinds. Of course it depends on the tournament stage, but i started playing like that and I'm doing pretty well

Well 2.3% isn't too bad for a freeroll. I've played in many freerolls that offer a payout to a lot less than 1% of the field. take for example the full tilt weekly freerolls (or I don't know if the fields have changed since thy changed the format) those freerolls could easily get 12 000 players and only pay the top 100 and something, I think it was 90 or something like that.

You might want to take higher variance lines (as you would in say a satellite with 100 entrants that pays out top 5 or something... or a winner take all SNG satellite). It doesn't mean you're limiting yourself to ai/fold in early levels (but you might want to be willing to gii w 88+ AQo+ for example... but of course > 'it depends', lol)

Your best case scenario is playing MTT's which pay fewer spots for a number of reasons. Firstly; you get the really terrible players who think they need to gamble from the very first hand and you can just crush them. Secondly; it makes yourself play a more aggressive and better overall MTT game. The last thing you want to do; is min cash even though it's free money you want to aim for the top 3 spots.

Just play a solid game take good spots and target all the fish. :)

The game was a disaster IMO and hopefully the site learns better from this inaugural game.

255 entrants when game started
top 5 payouts = 1.9% ITM
1000 starting stacks and 100/200 starting blinds

I went out early on when my 88 was called by J9o
