I just got into the freeroll club here and I have to remember to lose that freerolling mentality and play a little more seriously because nobody calls all ins with marginal hands here and when I do go all in with semi strong hands I have always been beat.
Progress before Perfection.

This tourneys are more serious than others that dont require any password so you can expect better players here and because the prizes are great no one want to be eliminated and just throw his chips with weak hands.

As someone who plays freerolls quite a lot I find the standard of the competitors varies a lot in each site. I find that the one nationality freerolls, (a all Uk freeroll for example), players are a lot more sensible. I hope one day to be a member of the freeroll club here and then I expect the players will be of the highest standard, as people seem to be more genuine and helpful here.

I figured it would be a better free roll environment, I'm looking forward to getting into the club myself. Great chance to build a little bankroll and not worry about buy ins.

I'm looking forward to joining this CC club also.... better players improves your own game vs the crapshoots of a 1k player plus bingo game.

Freerolls from cardschat I haven't played, but I hope that soon I will play! I often watched the tables have noticed that players are much stronger than regular freerolls! And it pleases! In normal freerolls players go in with pre-flop with these cards, what is funny is when they win!!!))))))

You worry about donks? I hope for my whole table to be full of donks. Isn't that where the money is?

I have trouble forgetting the mentality. I play freerolls and when i switch to SNGs i start calling and shoving, seeing the cards and thinking, jeez, these freerolls really have tight players.

To be honest the quality of the CC Freeroll is what it is because each of the regulars here take the game seriously & play for pride more than prize money. And once you are in the CC Freeroll you will get to know each other by playing together more often and you will soon realize the only way to win this thing is to get better and not play with 'usual' freeroll mentality. More importantly because you know the fellow regulars the chats and friendship during the game is a thing to enjoy.

Tired of Losing

Ok guys and gals, I am tired of losing in the freerolls here. I'm a good player and don't know why I play these freerolls differently than I do the buy in's I play. What is it going to take for me to get serious about these games? That is the only thing I can think of that is causing me to go out early. And to tell you all the truth, I have always played freerolls like that. HELP

Even the best can go on runs of not doing well in the cc freerolls. I know I do, and have always had greater success in the carbon games than I have in the ftp or stars games but I feel that comes down to the structure of the games.

In regards to treating them differently than a buyin game I do slightly but not a huge amount, I try and think of them more in terms of being a buyin game. 100$ freeroll with even say 100 entrants I think of it as a 1$ buyin game so it can get you away from the sometimes freeroll mentality.

It can get discouraging to go on long runs without doing well in them, but then you could have a week where you run deep in them all and get that confidence back. I mean for me besides carbon I havn't really had any deep runs in any other freerolls except a 2nd on bcp a couple of weeks ago but just have to plug through and perhaps make some adjustments if you feel your stacking off too light because you just think of it as a freeroll..........to me its a free entry great value game and just think of it in terms of the value it has rather than the buyin.

Take more risks with freerolls, especially with the early stages where everyone is play super loose. Big risk, big rewards and you have nothing to lose. Make a big stack early on and dont be afraid to use it. In the later stages, adjust your play. Still take risks, but not as loosely as you did in the earlier rounds.

Thanks to you both. I'm glad to hear that others do look at these freerolls differently. philthy that is what I'm going early. Even though I was tired and really didn't care, the last one I played I caught KQ suited and went all in on the small blind when he raised, and run into AK. Something like that on the one before that. Maybe that's it. I just don't care, and don't know why because I would like to have a few $ on all my poker sites. But every time I sit down to one I promise I will play it differently.

Yeah i played with you a few freerolls on Americas Cardroom and you are pretty bad. Glad to hear you play better when it is for real money. Maybe the insanity of the other players wears you down.

well, sounds like you've identified the problem: you play them differently than other tournaments. so, if you're doing OK in other tournaments then logic would suggest you need to apply the same strategy and thinking.

for what it's worth, I find the CC freerolls to be harder than your average $1 buy in MTT....the field actually has a clue and tends to care so there is less dead money, fewer people that just hand you their stack when they have a weak draw, etc.

Plus big freerolls are usually turbo or hyperturbo tourneys with houndreds or thousands of players. This fast level change makes ppl gamble more. I played in a freeroll where at the full final table the tournament leader had 3BBs LOL.

think freerolls are great practice, and if somebody is playing really crazy.....then its great practice adjusting to other styles
