Freeroll Tournaments, other than the massive amount of players has many advantages that you can capitalize on. These are as the following:

-Opportunity to create a bankroll for FREE (obviously)
-Allows you to learn patience
-Allows you a way to test out certain strategies for other tournaments (micros)
-Develops necessary patience to play premium hands such as AA, KK, QQ, AKs, and JJ

Things to note about freerolls that may help you get money from these are simple and I will break them down into 3 stages:

  1. Early- Premium hands only (AA,KK,AKs,QQ,JJ)
  2. Middle Stage (Antes)-Tight still, but start stealing
  3. Late (20-30 player)- Be aggressive, play good hands strong

Early Stage- This is the stage in a freeroll where all the crazy hands are. Play tight and in position with the premium hands mentioned above. If heads up against an all in early on, you can try to stack up with TT, or better Avoid hands like KJ, KQ, KT as by the river they are most likely to be the second or third best hand.

Middle Stage- This is where the antes are introduced. Play in position on the dealer button and play your position aggressively. If a tight player raises and you have a marginal hand, fold. If playing against a loose player, re-raise and take it to the flop if he continues. In this stage of the tournament your actions depend on your stack size a lot. Only the disciplined will make it to the late stage near the money( in a regular freeroll). Short stacked you should look for a good hand to shove with, mid stack you should do the same but you are also able to resteal with a shove, and deep stacked use it as a weapon to punish weak players (players who will fold 80% of the time or better on the flop).

Late Stage- This stage of the tournament you will have to play very aggressive without being a donkey (any two cards). Open up your range to suited connectors if you are able to limp in and marginals like KJ, KQ, QJ, JT become powerful tools to your advantage.

I hope these tips help you cash and even win freerolls. Any input to make this post better is also greatly appreciated.:D

Very good tips. And you are definitely right about learning patience. I have been trying to build a bankroll with freerolls and I haven’t had much luck yet but I see my game improving. It will happen soon.

That's the least you should do, plus a great majority play to hit the FLOP, and just in following a few tips, you get one to have advantages over many Looser. But you want to know the real one ??? want to have a bankroll, study a lot about the game, and about cash management control, then you will have a healthy bankroll.

Playing TAG early I think is key. Have a hand with real showdown value. There will be many to the flop and nearly every hand will get a showdown and sometimes 3 or 4 to the showdown.

I have built a few dollars now on free rolls. I really want to get back into single table SNGs but I am still short on bank roll. BOLs smallest single table SNGs are $1.50 so I only have 4 buy ins.

You have to be patient.Sometimes you need a lot of time to build a bankroll just from freerolls. But you take no risk while playing a freeroll ...you can make money from nothing.

hi rulist! Interesting that you try to make a very complicated game so simple and divide it in 3 stages.

Have you actually executed this yourself and have you been able to build a bankroll out of that?

Here's a quick tip for you. Think of poker as one long session. You see so many bad beats but if someone has to suck out on you to win then you are getting your chips in right

Yes I have been able to do it. It takes a long time but it can be done. The biggest cash I have made in one freeroll is $66.00 and then working that into a larger roll. Circumstances had arised to where I had to use the money to pay rent but all in all it can be executed if done right.

Very good point iosif. That is the whole goal of freerolls. developing a bankroll from nothing. Who ever said you have to spend money to make money? The whole point of it is getting the most value out of what is offered. It may take a whole week to cash in a freeroll. It's what you do with the money you get from the freeroll that makes the whole difference.

My opinion is that I think you should build up your roll to about 20 buy ins for 9 max sngs and even more for 6 max. the variance between 9 max and 6 max is huge. 6 max has many more swings than 9 max. that extra 3 seats makes a huge difference.

Exactly. Very well put and I enjoy your feedback. Do you think a LAG style works with these freerolls on America's Cardroom?

This is why it pays to take my advice

When it comes to building a bankroll out of freerolls, all of them freerolls prepare you for the bigger ones. All the preparation and the advice i gave to my own users in my post "Freeroll Your Way To A Bankroll" things like this happen. https://i.gyazo.com/0a00b46fd92ca686e3fe09875a3f5e36.jpg

This was TONIGHT and PROOF that what I am saying will help all of my viewers.

agree with all those tips ... but I think that patience is very important in freeroll tournaments ... n the first stage of the tournament it is essential to wait for strong hands ... once you have doubled your chips you can open your range of hands and play more spots ....!

I acctually play looser in the beginning, I don't go crazy but I try to see flops in position with good odds to try and get lucky

You have to build a healthy stack pretty fast if you want to make it deep in a freeroll

You have to be good at postflop play to use my loose strategy

The main thing that the game liked, otherwise you can regret the time spent. I'm also trying to create a bankroll. All good luck in this hard way.
