So firstly when it is just a shove fest we are going to lose a lot of the time it happens to us all.
Secondly if the all-in is post flop we want to have hands that have strong equity to see all 5 cards. Often 1 pair hands like top pair etc are not worth getting all in vs multiple players. We want to play hands that make 2 pair plus hands as that is what will win more often.
Thirdly you want to try to see more flops with hands that make the nut straights or nut flushes and avoid hands that do not. Even second nut flushes are dangerous multiway.
You wan to see the flop cheaply so if you have AT-diamonds you do not want to build the pot preflop. You also do not want to hit an A only and stack off.

Get your VPIP way down to under 20% especially in the beginning of a freeroll. The more hands you see, the bigger the chance that something bad is going to happen.
On the WPN, two pair is a trap hand. You may flop two pair and it may seem like you have a strong hand but somebody is going to have a better hand 90% of the time I guarantee it.
A-Q suited is known as the Anna Kornikova because it looks nice but does not win nearly as often as it should, so don't commit your stack with A-Q, obviously certain situations like a 10 BB fold or shove scenario A-Q is a shove.

I can only recommend what I did to bolster my free roll play, Play as many play money MTTs as you can to gain more and more experience of navigating through the crazy early stages of of a tourney. It became invaluable to me.
Its a nutty proving ground but you soon learn discipline which you can take to the free rolls.
Then of course you can gain status by posting on Cards Chat and enter free rolls which are generally a much more sensible place to play!

I recommend that you play, in addition to freerolls, satellites for 0.2 0.10 0.25 and others for 0.14 0.25 where you can win tickets to a bounty tournament with a bet of 2.2 3.3
The main thing is patience and yes now there are many freerolls with tickets this is a chance to win a jackpot, I would say)

For a basic guideline I would suggest you to play really tight and solid game and DO NOT TRY TO bluff because it’s not going to work in a freeroll. Once the late registration is done you can open up a little more depending on my M factor. This is when people try to get into the money so they will try to play safe and the random all-in will not happen as often.

And playing trying to see a cheap flop with connected hands that make a straight, the suited ones, low pairs trying to set (preferably) and the broadways.
Of course, KK, AA raising preflop or going all in soon, because most of them love to go all in.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and recommend playing quite aggressively in freerolls, especially early in the tournament. The reason is that, as you said, half the people are playing extremely wildly, and those of them that are winning their flips are accumulating tons of chips--a very few will win several all-ins in a row, putting them in an easy position to bully the rest of the players.
In my experience, freerolls start you off short-stacked (30 BB) and have fast, terrible structures with similarly bad payout structures (you play for literal pennies unless you make the final table).
If you are sitting around waiting for premium hands and overfolding your hands both pre-flop and as the board runs out, you are going to get blinded out and forced all-in anyways, but now you're also going to be at a massive disadvantage in terms of stack distribution.
Therefore, I suggest not playing like an idiot, of course, but playing highly aggressively with premium hands and hands with the potential the make the nuts. Know your pre-flop ranges based on position, as well as what your opponents' ranges might be (in a freeroll, you never know what someone is up to, but you know how you stand on average relative to a player in that position). As mentioned by a few others, try to see some cheap flops with speculative hands, but bet them aggressively if they connect on the flop. Print out a copy of the odds chart from page 52 of the 30-day training course to assist your decision-making on when to call with which types of hands.
If and once you do manage to accumulate a nice stack and start to get into the top 25% or so of players in the tournament, I'd continue playing the same way but be wary to lose too many chips in a single pot and throw away your efforts.

Learn the betting pattern of your opponents. I have found that paying attention is the best way to realize when people are being morons constantly. That said, sometimes cards to come to them. Just play your game and you will get in.

Equilab is a free program that allows you to input villain ranges and see what equity your holdings have. You can see equity versus multiple villains complete ranges. It would be very helpful regarding this question

I started with zero on CC freerolls, and have built my bankroll up to over a thousand, Play a lot of freerolls, be fearless but play well . Those guys that go all in all the time are great for building your stack. Wait for tha right cards to call and take them from them. Also study the game so you can get better at it. I recomend the 30 day free course for Cardschat members.

I suppose players guys who suggest playing tight , they also play tight , they do not play loose or a little loose because they have the knowledge how to do so but the othrs don't know so they propose to them to play very conservatively for their own sake , lol . Just sying . Such threads I have seen too many times , in all of them all suggest ''play tight '' , now how it comes almost all of the players to play loose in the CC freerolls in PS , 888poker , ACR , etc , that's sth to be examined and specified by the specialists on the field , maybe some CC veteran players LoL .
As for tight playgame , I tried it for months in the pevious months , it lead nowhere, another style is needed for sure , donken up range , loosen up , but only in cerain positions and traps , or else be ready to fold , only if you know what you are doing be ready to go for all your stack . I am trying to become a better donk for nowadays CC freerolls , and generally nowadays freerolls , I have a loong way to walk .....Maybe shoving 55s for 50 or 80 blinds UTG without prvious action is a first step in the right direction . hohoho This new era of freerolls these last 2-3 years lol ...
