Do you play differently depending on whether you are playing a Freeroll or if you spent money on a buy in?

I think I’m tighter when I spend money, wanting to cash even if it’s near the bottom just so I don’t lose my buy in. Anyone else feel that way?

I don't play any differently between the 2. If anything maybe i play tad tighter on the free roll the 1st level or 2 until the crazy people are out but to be honest i always try to play my A game.

You really should not change your game in the free rolls by the way. If you start changing the way you play you may also pick up some bad habits and start doing them when playing in the buy in games.

of course the game when you pay for the entrance is much more responsible. and players at the table are more cautious. there is a normal adequate action.
and freerolls there play all for free and less responsibility for their stack and actions.
a serious game I think the game from 10 dollars and above.

I don't play differently with freeroll or buy-ins tournaments, I would have to adjust more to the crazy people in free roll tho. The play style should depend on the opponents you are dealing with.

in freerolls CC club is more difficult but at the same time it's nice to play .. Here you can develop the skill of playing math and learn to read opponents.

I play more riskly in the freeroll because the rewards are lower, I want to either double up or fall out of the tournament.

I play absolutely the same in both cases. This is possible by the fact that I play on micro limits. And I do not see much difference from freerolls. I just enjoy the game.

Listen. You shouldnt be playing freerolls at all if you have enough money to play other games. You lose focus and learn to play with real begginers and you shouldnt get used to that.

For me, there is no significant difference in playing a freeroll or MTT with BI. But I know that for many players there is such a difference, and playing a freeroll they will have a wider range for the game. This must be taken into account in order to adapt to the game of villains.

It is also worth noting that in tournaments with pay, there can be players on tickets won in satellites or received for any action. It can also affect the style of playing villains - playing on an unusually expensive limit for a "prize" ticket - for someone it's the same freeroll, and for someone the chance for a very big money in an expensive tournament. Try to define the villain's style, and then use it against him.

It's interesting to see how many CC'ers play both types of tourneys the same way. That's really tough to do in freerolls when 2 or 3 players are jamming every hand while the blinds are going up rapidly.

The same thing happens in the cheaper satellites to the big tourneys. I just played a $1.10 buy-in sat to the Sunday Storm. Just like in freerolls it was difficult to get into a hand because of all the jamming. Fortunately the blinds didn't go up as quickly as most freerolls. So in the end a disciplined approach worked and I won an entry to the Storm.

How you are able to play depends a lot on the blind structure of the game.

I just played my first Freeroll on pokerstars with cardschat group and I must say the difference in play versus my usual 888 poker super turbo Freeroll was amazing. Much less all ins every hand and could actually enjoy the game more as opposed to just being lucky.

Actually cashed as well for 65 cents. Retirement here I come!

I try to play tournaments the same regardless of the buyin price. I adjust according to how the table is playing. If someone is wildly splashing around with weak ranges then I may call shoves a lot wider than what I would usually do.

the freeroll tournaments give you the opportunity that if you do not have a bank, you can get up there, from there play tournaments with low buy in which many players do not register, so you will have the opportunity to reach ITM faster .. my case game more in partypoker both their freeroll and tournaments are much less people than in pokerstars

My opinion is that in the freerolls there are many crazy people who go all in without having anything because the tournaments are free and in the tournaments that you have to pay the entrance you play a more solid game on the part of the participants, I think it's more easy to get to prizes in a buy in tournament that in a freeroll

I try to play both the same, like someone mentioned earlier, I would play a little more tightly in the first hour. Let all of the all in players fizzle out, then win the chips from the "great" players.
Like all card games, and well games in general that I play, I am always trying to better my game. I play against computers on a few different games, it is all game theory to try and figure out the best outcome. Not declare the game is rigged.
A lot of people won't play with play chips, and just keep not knowing how to play and rely mostly on luck. These are the ones that need to play with the play chips.

@Roger

Do you think people who play with play chips would be even looser than the Freeroll players since there is no real money involved?

Of course, so it is better to invest a little and then participate

I do play tighter when it’s my money verses free roll. Free rolls are just a fun way to try and build up your bank roll.

Your game should react to the players you are facing, the game you are playing & the cards you are getting.

Loose & tight players are scattered through out all games. Pay attention to their play & react accordingly. Your cards will change day-to-day & game-to-game. You must recognize & react accordingly. It is your competition & yourself that you must master.

GL & God bless. :)

Same

I play the same but I find I win freerolls but lose Buyins due to crazy bad beats and terrible luck, to the point I feel like ACR rigs or tweaks their buyin random number generator to increase action to take rakes, they have nothing to lose they aren't American and I'm pretty sure they are evading taxes in multiple countries lmao

I play more wild in Freerolls to build a big stack early.
I'd rather bust early in a Freeroll than bust late.
It's not really worth playing it tight early since it's usually such a huge field with such high variance that tight play won't be fun or effective. Gotta play loose! Until you make a big stack at least.

I don't change my strategy because i can't deposit so i'm forced to treat freerolls as real tourneys
