When do you guys lay down TPTK on unconnected unpaired boards. I have a hard time doing this, and it seems like its always 2pair or trips that get me. I'm afraid if I fold in this spot to much I will be exploitable and get run over.

I think the easiest way to lay down TPTK is by first not overvaluing the hand and over-betting which gets yourself committed to pots with just a pair.

Once you manage the pot size its much easier to lay it down to a 3-bet from someone that you feel is playing fairly tight or whatever the situation may be. And also if you smell something fishy but not fishy enough to fold calling him out with a small pot will not be as bad.

It is tough to laydown cause it just seems too good to. But it seems like its always 2-pair or trips that seem to beat you cause those are the hands that are usually being played that aggressively into the top pair (the typical range of 3-bets and pot/overbets).

Thank you and yeah that makes sense. I do tend to play tptk aggressively, maybe slow down when I get played back at.

Yeah I think that is a solid approach as I am more of a smallball type of player that likes to keep pots reasonable to "outplay" postflop. (I quote it cause I don't always get to outplay them hahah) Of course there are other different ways/play styles of approaching this depending on what you feel more comfortable with.

To make the right decision, you need statistics on your opponents. Your decision will depend on how aggressively the villain plays his cards. Maybe he's a maniac and he just has a second pair or top pair with a weak kicker. And it is possible that in front of you is a rock that caught its nuts. You must have statistics to make a decision in such cases. This does not exclude errors, but reduces losses.

Yes I need to use my hud more in these spots. I need to watch a video on when and how to use hud stats more.
