When you flop a set in mid stages of a tournament do you play aggressively? or play it slow?
When theres straight draws and flush draws on the board?

every time i flop a set i tend to get bad beats every time i play aggressive. How do you play a flopped set ??

I tend to play them fast and aggressive and if there are draws on the board, and I think they fall inside of someone's range I will bet accordingly as in taking away their odds to make a correct all ...I 'd rather take the pot right there ... doesn't always work if someone has a deep stack or thinks their implied odds are worth the call .... you can also run into a bigger set .... even if they get there ... you can possibly still get a full house but your outs are more limited ie. to a kicker in your hand or pairing a card on the board ....in the case of them having a bigger set ... well you win some you lose some ...

Depends on board texture and how many ppl in the hand.

With more people in the hand the odds of draws are higher, you'd wanna play the set aggressively UNLESS you happen to be setmining and you know the villain who opened preflop will cbet.

The time I would generally check raise the flop is when the flop is like A 7 3 rainbow and I have either 33 or 77. If it's KQ3 with two hearts, I am leading out strong.

If I am the preflop aggressor, then I definitely lead out and make it look like a cbet. Bet sizing it the same (eg, 2/3 or 3/4) as I have been doing all along.

When I flop a set you most likely have the best hand. I try to get all the money in if I can. The odds are in my favor. unless its 3 cards not in a suit i have or something or 3 connected cards. Ill take my chances on a bad beat vs a double up if a can get it.

With top set you still have seven outs for the best hand. 2 or 3 of them also take away Away from the flush draw.

When I see a flush draws, I even put any cards, I check. So, you do not always have to fold.

I kinda have a balancing rule for myself. I usually trap-check my top set and play middle and bottom sets very aggressively. The reason is that when you have top set you block so much of villains calling range, that you actually want to give him one free card, so that he could pay you later.

Every situation is different and it's hard to give a 100% correct answer. Table dynamics will be the largest factor and your own table image as well. If the board is wet and you're playing a TAG player don't slow play but against a LAG it would be profitable, etc

It's better to play aggressively, the flush on the river can not escape, it's poker, so there's no way.
You can of course with small bets stretch to the river, and if the flush does not close to give your opponent a bluff, through a check raise.

I ussually try to check-raise them, ofc depending on what the oppenent does.
After the turn, I usually play more agressive, def. if there is a lot of straight/flush draws.

Sometimes when I flop a set I'll try to let the turn card come out before I bet. To see if the board pairs or a blank card for someone who might be drawing. It's alot harder to call a big bet on the turn when there is only 1 card left to draw to. That and the odds are probably way in your favor if they do decide to make a bad call.

It really depends from what position you called with your pair in hand, whats the position on the initial raiser pre-flop and stuffs like that. As well it really depends how many people are in the hand, whats their call range, and their acts pre/post flop. So generally questions like this are hard to answer overall, but mostly of the time if u hit a set on flop you need to pay it out, you can check flop and go big on turn, or go big on flop and shove the turn (sometimes this can be bad plays), but as i said before you need to track people what is their call range.
Good luck to everybody :)

A few thoughts... my two cents (lol)

Best MTT players in the world "If you get knocked out of a MTT set over set there is no shame in that, if you fold a set to a supposed higher set, there is something deeply wrong with you."

What is there perception of you, are you tight and betting big? no one is going to call you without the nuts. If you are loose and aggressive, you are going to get called down by AA, KK or Two pair way more often.

If you are trying to figure out if they are drawing, note the way they call, a quick call without much thought is a known draw tell. great youtube video on quick call tells...

honestly, you cant fold a set without an amazingly strong read, loved the early comment "how many are you against?" that is very important too.

last, you made the comment, "I always get bad beats" all the more reason to play fast now because luck always evens out, you are due.

Regarding flopping a set, in general my opinion is first understanding the board texture (scary or not), understanding my opponent's tendencies/stack sizes, and taking my position in the hand into consideration. I think most often I play them aggressively, rarely checking - especially in multi-way pots.

every time i flop a set i tend to get bad beats every time i play aggressive. How do you play a flopped set ??

Try to be more optimistic - not one of us is more lucky or unlucky than the other. Variance happens, long term results are what matters. If you are tracking your play review all the times you've flopped sets. My guess is that if you have a good sampling (20,000+ hands) you'll find in the data that you seem to remember the unlucky times more than the good. Optimism > Pessimism!

I usually play a set the same way I play top pair, straight draw, flush draw, a flush, a strait, even air. Changing the way you play hands depending on if you hit a flop or not gives a ton of information away.
