In this example, I had 79o, which I got in for free on the BB. But it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for me to be in a raised pot or even being the idiot raising with such a hand. I try to get the dumb people to think I'm an ATC bingo donke y moron, since I can miss my ace high (or even worse) draws and still win at showdown. The slightly smarter people realizing I'm just "mixing it up" and "balancing" and can find it hard to put me on a range.
So against either opponent my image dictates a range that can be "nearly" anything from AA to 79o. Also, checking OOP here seems to almost always confuse them into thinking I'm weak which gets me action WHICH I WANT. But, based on outcome experience, I'd prefer if they put in 1/3rd of their stack and when back to me I shoved (playing my hand face up) and got them to fold. Especially against a four flush, I don't really want the draws in there.
This is a STRONG departure from my play from 2001-2011. I BEGGED for opportunities to GIIG even as small of a favorite as 60/40 because it was a winning proposition often enough. I used to joke that I was basically a pro at winning flips (since it seemed that way). Back then, I can't recall even once considering folding the nuts on the flop. On most any site, but particularly Pokerstars
and Full Tilt where I spent most of my time, I hardly ever had or even saw a 98% winner take a loss. I can count on one hand the number of times that the miracle runner runner came home. And I'm talking about where it has to be EXACTLY the Qs and Js, not where AA vs AA has to dodge running hearts on the freeroll. Yet, this nonsense has happened to more than 5 times in the past week. And I'm not even playing that many hands, really, since I (almost) never muti-table.
