I have found a leak that has been hurting me. When I am in the big blind and it is checked to me and I flop a two pair I get into to trouble. While I have won 25 out of these 35 hands, I often lose money and been put out of some tournaments. (Obviously winning money is more important then winning hands.) One I have heard it said that you should not go broke on an unraised pot I have a few times. Twice my opponetts have flopped sets when I hit two pairs so I lose some money there. A little bad luck three times I was 75% to win when I was all in. I do not try to slow play these hands. I know they are easily corrupted, I usually lead out and try to take it down right there or at least deny someone their drawing odds. But I am also getting my money in bad on later streets when some people have gotten there straights, giving them their implied odds.
So any general advice for flopping two pair in the bb after it has been checked to you? If you need some hand histories for more specific information I can them. Thanks.

I think you need to give us some more info, the HH's would help.

Having AK and hitting AK on the flop is different than having Aces and seeing two K's on the flop.

Be careful if you flop bottom two pair and the top card pairs or flop top and bottom pair and middle card pairs on turn.

Chances are you are still ahead but no point losing a big stack when your other pair gets counterfeited:D

Hand histories for bb special two pairs

When I got looking over these it just looks to me like I am seeing "Big Hand!" and falling in love with hands slighty stronger then top pair and forgetting they are even more vunerable. I will put them up for review and your thoughts are appreciated.

This one happened recently I got my money at 49%.

This last one I remember this guy had been pushing around the table and I wanted to trap him for chips so bad.

One other was my two pair vs a set on the flop which I didn't lose that much. The rest I got my money in ahead and just lost. I think the moral of the story is not to fall in with baby two pairs. I thought I already knew that but I guess I still have to learn.

Hand #1 - It's a coin flip. He has less than a 1% advantage on you, with his flush & bigger-two-pair draws. Once you bet the flop, even if you can see his cards you have the odds to call his 3-bet.
You can't strategize against bad luck other than properly managing your bankroll so you don't go broke.

Hand #2 - You are a 58.59% favorite to win when you got it all in. Again, you can't strategize against bad luck. I wish I could be in this situation every single hand.

Hand #3 - When you two-pair a flop, the offs of him having a set are really low. You can't strategize against cold decks either. Even if the guy was tight, he's often going to stack with overpairs which you beat 73% of the time.

Hand #4 - You win 67.2% of the time. He wins 32.8%. That means you win more that 2/3 of the time. Bad luck. It happens about 1/3 of the time.
If you would have played it the same way had you seen his hold cards, then it was a good decision. And if I could have seen his cards in your situation I'd be tripping over myself to get the money in.
Again, you can't strategize against bad luck.

Hand #5 - You win 75.66% of the time when you got all of your $ in. Need I say more?

The trouble with two pair, even top two pair, is that you never have the nuts and it is rarely worth staking your life on. With a one colour flop it can be useful if you treat it as a bluffing/drawing (ie semi bluffing) hand. In fact, with most boards I am treating low two pair as a semi bluff.

I hate flopping 2 pair out of the BB. It's very possible to lose a bunch of chips and I have. Lately I'll use a chck/raise to gauge my opponent(s) in this situation. The chck/raise says I have a monster. If my opponent is happy that I have a monster he will shove expecting me to go all in otherwise he should go away. If my opponent comes along with a call I'll usually put the brakes on and stop betting. Have a plan for what ever you're doing and execute it. Of course your stack size and type of opponent can help you decide what to do.
