Headed to my first wsop circuit event in February. I was looking for any suggestions or advice people have. I'm typically used to playing in much smaller venues which average around 100 players and only a $180 buy in.

Register the day before or as early as you can, lines can get long. Scope out restrooms (you'll want 2-3 options), where to eat when you make it to dinner break, where to smoke (if a smoker, hope you aren't).

Take a hoodie, jacket, sweater, sweatshirt etc. to deal with varying room temps. Take your own water/coffee/etc so you don't have to wait for someone to come by the tables.

Good Luck!

Good luck! Patience is a virtue - know when to fold. :)

There is usually only 1 turbo event in these - the structures are pretty decent.

Play poker. Don't slip into making a bunch of bad calls. Stay clean take some hand sanitizer with you and use it often, and keep your hands away from your mouth while playing, those chips are handled by thousands of players many of whom don't even wash their hands before leaving the bathroom. I just spent 7 days in bed after playing in Hollywood, FL and Jacksonville, FL with a quick stop in Daytona. I don't know where I picked up whatever I have but it is horrible. I thought I was getting over it but had a relapse. I hope to be back on my feet soon.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I have to make a sizable road trip so I'm hoping to make the best of it. Not going out n with unrealistic expectations, but just hoping to play well. The more I know the sooner I can hopefully get settled in. Thanks

Patience, patience and more patience.

Don't assume the other players are better than you, even if they seem to know the dealers, each other, etc. Play your game.

If it is a re-entry tournament, watch out for players with small stacks early. They'll shove basically anything because they're going to re-enter if they lose. A good opportunity to pick up chips if you've got a strong hand.

Which stop are you playing?

Going to the wsop circuit in Milwaukee. Never been. I've just decided to try an expand my horizons and test my skill in a larger setting. Thanks for the advice. Sounds to me like there's still the same mix of players ranging in skill level, but maybe a much higher ceiling at the high end when it comes to the better caliber of players.

To be sure, take a hoodie as I have found most poker rooms to be extremely cold. You want to be as comfortable as you can.

Don't get caught up in the BS from the "regs", they tend to band together almost as if they are a team and sharing the winnings.
