i play live tourneys nearly every weekend with about 14-20 group of people. THese are home games but most of the players are well rounded and solid poker players. My first ever live tournament with i played like a nit and was knocked out fairly early due to the constant increase in blinds. However the more tourneys i played the more comfortable i got and having constantly reading and acquiring information to better my poker game i finally became good at live play in general, having cash at the last three tourneys (1st, and two 2nds) and have profit 4 out of 5 last cash games.

Do you play vs the same ppl often? How much is it of an advantage to know the players compared to playing with stragners?

My first Live was at Binions. 122 entrants . I was scared outta my mind. I got julcy a few times, but had two chips when i made final table. Also the luckiest day!!

Big Stack grew tired and we all chopped evenly at 5th $1700 each..Most exciting time in my life at the final table.

I don't remember the first live tournament I played as I was about 7 years ago. I had only played online tournaments but I had been playing live cash games for about 4-5 years so I wasn't new to the live game.

A few tips for live tournaments that I could give you would be to really pay attention to the other players when your not involved in the hand. I find picking up on players style of play, reading hands and pick up on tells is easier to do when your not involved in the hand. Try to be conscious of how you react physically when you look at your cards and when involved in a hand. Live tournaments play differently to online but at the end of the day it's still poker so, be confident in your abilities and have fun. Good Luck.

ill give you my best advice, I recently won 1st place in one of my local casinos. I sign up and first hand, I get knock out with pocket AA's, I was not happy or satisfy so i re-enter again. and was even ready to fold aces if i had too dependent on the flop that how i set my mind when i decide it to re-enter who knows if i would fold them if the situation came. Do not gamble or push all in if other people do it or if is more than 2 stay out DONK's do hit and thats a gamble unless you have tons of money to renter as many times u want but thats sucks. I was playing tight when we were to the final 3 tables, I was last in chips few chips, I had people kept looking towards my stack from the other tables, I mange to survive and build my stack from almost been blind out to chip leader, when I was on the final table we decide to look at the numbers to see if we wanted to chop it. 2 guys refuse so we decide to keep going on the first hand, the guy who refuse when heads up with me he had AQ I had K7 suited I made a big bet he re-raised I when all in. He beat me and took 65% of my chips or even more i was back to a really short stack maybe the shortest now on the table with 10 players left. I play tight again and again I manage to survive the high blinds and came to be chip leader again until it was 5 people left we look at the numbers and chop it, 2 people were really short stack but i didn't care i wanted the money. So think I was short stack about 3 times and either to survive i had to push all in a couple times with one caller which had me beat and would get lucky on the turn or river. Figure this out and that's how you are going to W1N live... if you have any other questions sent me a message.

I mostly play live cash games, but I do love the tourney grind. My first live tournament went well, finished in 7th with a decent payout. Had to be very patient to wait out the donks, but it worked
