Hello. I love this forum and think I have learned a lot. Or enough to lose real money. Tonight I am playing my first real tournament at a casino in Tulsa. So far I have only played on the pokerstars App. Any advice for tonight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Get a good night's rest. Stick to your game. Read players when you can, but your first live game might feel like a whirlwind. I find that a friendly attitude helps break the nerves just before play. Keep focused and hydrated. Good Luck! (I'm from Alva, OK, btw!!) You'll do fine. Keep the win in mind, but if that doesn't happen, just chalk it up to experience and study what you should do from there.

There are a lot of little gotchas in the transition to live, but it is a lot of fun an well worth it.

Stack sizes and pot sizes are obviously not instantly available in digital form, so you need to ensure you aren't over-committing to a hand because you misjudge pot equity or the SPR.

You can do silly things like mucking the BB in an unraised pot. I did this my first time out and have seen it happen to others.

While some of the players will be very good, on average casino players haven't spent the time reading multiple poker books and discussing hands online. Therefore, you have an advantage in this regard.

Most importantly... HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!

Oh, yea, and look up live poker etiquette. Things like acting out of turn, talking about ur hand while players are still n and u have folded, etc. remember, most of all, verbal is binding.

Thank you to all for the advice. I had fun and lasted about 2.5 hours. Finished 6th. No cash. Got very short stacked at the end of the first hour. Made a couple of All In pushes and won both and got a lot of chips back. Then made a super dumb play and was out. But learned a lot and can't wait to do it again.

Biggest thing with playing live is tightening up your pre flop hand selection. Most people will be playing ridiculously wide hand ranges and you can take advantage of that by tightening up pre and remember to 3 bet. Don't get caught up in trying to hit a flop like everyone else does.

Congratulations! 6th is outstanding for a first try at live MTTs.

Most of all, I am glad you had fun.
