Hey! Just thought I'd post to say that I played my first live tournament here in London on Monday afternoon. Only a small one £25+£5 bounty. There were only 30 runners but was pleased with my performance, I came 6th...although top 5 got paid! :(

That's great pokerman! What that does is give you confidence that you can take the next one down! Obviously what you were doing was working.

Try to figure out why you went out on the bubble. Did you do something bad BEFORE the bubble hand? How could you improve your game.

Take that with you and you should be just fine!

Congrats again! It's a great feeling.

Good job making it to the final table! I like playing live more than online, but there just aren't many games near where I live. Were you able to pick up any tells on players by looking at them? I always try and do that when playing live, which is something you can't do online(obviously). Do you think you like live better than online, or still not sure since you only payed 1 live game so far?

TBH I was initially more concerned with giving off tells myself than I was of picking up any on other players. I was definitely able to weed out the super weak pleayers and value bet them to death and there were a few!! As for the final table, I arrived with a below average stack one early double up and I was in fairly good shape I then called an all in from a short-ish stack and my AKs didn't hold up vs his 88s. After that I was in trouble and when it folded around to the SB with me in the BB and he completed I shoved the last of my stack only, about 5-6 big blinds, with QTs and he called with J6 and hit a jack on the flop and I bubbled.

I really enjoyed playing live and am definitely gonna make it a semi regular thing - I don't have the BR to make it anything more than the occasional recreational play, however with a 1st prize of £500 (in Monday's touney) one win should sort me out...will update when I play the next one!

Nicely done! One short of ITM for your first live tourney is great! Yeah, if I were you, I would definitely try that one again!

We have a few poker rooms around here, but it's been at least a few years since I've been in to play. It seems like it's hard to get into a game for less than $50. I don't imagine that's changed. Oh well, gotta polish up my sills a little before letting go of that kind of money in a single game! :)

Once again, good job!

Congrats on attending your first live tourney. The first time I attending one butterflies were in my stomach until the first hand got passed and then I just relaxed. Sometimes when I am playing online I tend to yell at the computer but live I just say Nice Hand and move on. 6th place is good for your first time out and can only get better, hope you cash next time.

i went...and i was gonna play cash tables....but i only brought $100...i was with my rents and the casino was biggggg. i went around searching for poker tables but all i found were black jack. 3 card poker. and something callled ultimate texas holdem where everybody just plays against the dealer.

i decided to just play slot machines and other weird games you just sit down at.

it wasn't until we were leaving i saw a sign that said poker rooms with elavators in a kind of hidden spot..i went up to check it out before we left and it was a legit poker room with blinds at 1/2....next time ill be going straight there
