I'll play my first MTT next week, it's a MTT exclusive for my university members (students, teacher, employees). Beside the exclusivity, it will be a high level tournament, so I was wondering if somebody here had some tips for me, like..."play LAG in the beginning, then go TAG"

Here's the structure of the MTT.
12k chips
Inicial blinds: 25/50 ("broken" blinds, not doubling)
20min blinds
Triple chance with two re-entrys available

I think it's kind of a deep MTT, which im not used to, even in online poker

Sorry for my wacky english

Always use the technique Position, Stack, villain Profile, at first play safe, take note of your opponents, like if he is aggressive, plays a lot of hands, and always try to steal blinds.

Even 25/50 blinds?

At first not too low blinds, but that blind stealing is independent of your cards, you will look at the situation. eg you BT against SB and BB tigth and your comfortable stack, you can open and raise to shove

Assuming this crowd has a lot of misconceptions of how to play poker at a "winning" level, so you are going to see all kinds of goofy stuff. They are not going to range their opponents. They are just going to play their hand. They are just going to throw chips in looking to play roulette more than poker. Because of this I would go super tight and super aggressive until the fish are out of the lake.
But probably most important, don't get caught up into the loose action and just be patient, OBSERVE and figure out who you most want to into a hand with. Like a cobra, just upright, watching, waiting, until it strikes.

Actually the level of this MTT will be high, but eventually I'll run into some "bingo players". The tournament is kinda expensive for "recreative" players

I think in the first u will need play safe, but if really will much aggressive fishes then try steal some chips from them if u can btw if u get QQ-KK-AA then allways push allin preflop because they will call your bet/raise and they can beat u with low bad hands.. I allways allin when i get one of these hands because they beat me easy if i just raise i so hate that they call everything and win with really bad cards lol so if u allin then its better if they fold preflop than they beat you

Definitely the way to go - if you can't play poker.

-Don't look at your cards till it is your turn. This way you don't give away any tells about your hand.
-Play really tight in the start and just observe what kind of cards your opponents play and how they play those cards.
-Keep track of how many blinds you have and how many opponents on your table have.
-Most of the players there will be new just like you so have fun and if you know how to play your game you will be fine.
-Don't forget your hoodie, shades and headphones lol.

fight the urge to play with your phone, and focus on action

try to get comfortable and move as little as possible

watch a couple of videos on live tells before you go

The best reason you don't look at your cards before your turn is your attention should be on the other guys looking at their cards. If you have not looked at your cards then you don't really know if you are going to be in the hand or not. Since their is still the chance you will be in the hand, the action that comes before you is much more relevant and you will pay more attention than if you immediately peeked at 72o and know you are not going to play. This is the beginning of figuring out who you are playing against, including tells, habits, ranging, etc.

I would say play TAG first then when blinds get big switch to a lag style as blinds and antes become worth stealing
