First BIG win?

Hi all

I’ve just started playing MTT starting in 2018. I use to play cash games only but I like the thrill of making it deep in tournaments. I’ve played probably close to 30-40 MTTs. My strongest finishes have been 9th/660 and 25/8800. I’m +ROI for MTTs so far only playing the micros.

My question to all of you is how long was it before you won your first tournament or even made the final table? Also what is your experience with micro MTT vs higher stakes like $10+ buyins. I feel like I have a good edge right now in micros because of all the fish but I don’t have experience in higher stakes and was looking for some input!!

Yes i still remember my first big win. It was at PKR ranking monthly Freeroll at 2009 i guess, where i did won about $100 or something. Was a huge boost to my BR, as i started from 0 there and afterwards could finally quit playing freerolls and $0.1 SNGs and concentrate me on grinding $1 SNGs. Ah old good days..

And now PKR doesn't even exist anymore..

My last big win and final table was in 2013 ...great year for me in poker I won 832 for the 1st place in a MTT turbo of 5.50 buy in.....long time without a no good cash. And last year 3rd in a micro buy in 0.55 and won just 44. Now is really difficult reach to a final table playing well, but we are on tables playing our best poker. GL in tables.

I've plays about 200 and never won 1 I've came 5th. 9th 6th my highest cash being the 6th $720. I've won plenty of sit and goes mostly with 45players in a MTT to win everything has to go right.. Good cards good run outs and a few fish throwing chips at u.
My biggest sit and go win was the $30 pko I got $215 for 1st and $297 in bounties.

Not bad so far,,,when i first started playing MTT`s,had little to no success.

It`s not easy,there`s alot of good players out there,but fortunately there`s also alot of bad player`s too.As you gain experience you begin to recognize player`s more quickly,but also you have to `plug` all the holes in your game before you`ll see consistent results.Stick to it. Read,watch,play. You`ll get there if you want it. GL

Hey Mare10, Congratulations on a first win! Now you know that feeling, which drive us all stop the grinding on SNG or Cash games and play MTTs over and over again. It's simply that euphoria being the first place, who has beaten a huge field of other players and tables after many hours of play. This you get only and only at MTT. But be careful with that money you have won! Keep playing lowest limits and get some experience. Remember first you need to beat the lowest limits over months, before you can say, now i can try myself at a step higher. It's very important, if you want to make a good poker career and not being disappointed after wasting all your poker money on higher limits. Read some about bankroll Management. True story! Higher you go, more adequate poker you get. But it's not always what you have to applaud for. The game will be tougher and tougher, there are less fish and more regs, sometimes even pros to compete. You have to study and working much harder to keep beating the higher limits. The only good thing about it, rake is less there tho. It helps a lot. But as i replied to another quote below - is very important that your bankroll does really allow you to play higher. Cause so many players, especially at the beginning made that mistake, trying to get lucky at higher limits and waste all of their poker money... Stay safe!

My biggest win

My first big win was on ACR for about $1200 when i got 4th in there $10 10k. After that win i bought a hud 2 monitors and a better computer which set me up with my biggest win $1700 in a $5 buy in $5000k GTD.

Hello, I've read you link. I accept your opinion completely.Wining one tournament, is a nice experience, gains the tournament was 19.50 dolara. PS begginers 100 $ 260 player played.Prize I quickly spent, investigating and i i i see,the best tournaments for me is buy-in - 0.55 $ mybe sometimes 1.10 ofcorse without re-buy.theat are slow tournaments, the best for beginners with small capital.

Started playing micro 2months ago had twice 5th , once 10th, playin daily 2 tourneys a day, casual as you noticed =D , loving the game because of the adrenaline rush, money in the end is just a nice bonus of your success, been really struggling in final tables to take empty blinds away, always getting wounded from that, not enough knowledge for positioning i guess

I thought it was a 2.20 tournament. Last year was my first victory, it was cool, I won 160 bucks, although I do not remember how much my winnings accurately, but I remember that 3rd place and played for about 9 hours in a row.

OK. I want to congratulate you BUT "30-40 MTTs" is a small sample. There is a reason why most farms ask you to have atleast 500 tourneys under youк belt. You should paly abit more to figure out what you are having as you might just be on a heater. I dont wana knock you BUT I also dont wana read in a ~month: "DAMN I lost every thing to a fish that called me with Q6o" OK? =)And congrats again

My last big win was some years ago with two 1st places for a combined total of ~2500$.
But lately, especially the first week of February I won a hyper turbo, get 2nd to a 4-max psko and 3rd to a zoom psko. And a lot of 20-100 places. Variance is a bitch and you have to beat it.
