hey everyone, first of all sorry for my english (im a french canadian)..

i'm playing my first big tournament in a month, the 550$ 888live local in Montreal. As a student in university i couldnt afford big buy in tournament but i won a 30$ satellite for the event so im pretty happy..

I've played poker since a young age, maybe like 16 years old.. but just improved my game lately (im 21 now)..

I started playing cash game but realised i was more a tournament type this years (even if cash game payed my first year of university)..
but i was wondering for good advise or good coaching site or anything really before the big day!!

PS: i'm use to live game already, i've played in casino de montreal alot but like i said it was cash game!!

Thanks,

cormierced

Play tight in the early stages, when the blinds aren't that high. Even when you would mis the flop some time you can bluff them out.

Firstly I want to congratulate you on the victory in the satellite bro. A tip I want to give only one. Forget about the amount for which you play. Imagine it's cash games at the micros. And without doubt, risks or be careful as you do it always. That is, just be yourself. Good luck in the game !!! Make them all !!!:)

It's obvious that you're a successful player. On the contrary, we need to learn from you. Good luck to you. I can only repeat the previous post. Play your game and do not think about money.

Just try to play as good as you can. Read up on tournament strategy, maybe play some low BI MTTs to practice concepts you are unsure about (3/4 betting PF, floating, barreling etc.)

You should really try to go into the game without being "scared" or "under pressure" if you know what I mean. There are moves you should make, and you should be ready to do this.. Dont play passive because it is a good ticket.

My best advice would be "You are in it to win it". Fold, call, raise. lol.. AT the right time. Prepare as best you can, then, when the game starts, play your best.

I know this is not concrete at all, but just be as prepared as you can be, then you just have to play. Try to notice player tendencies. Try to estimate ranges. Play good!

Good luck.

On top of what everyone else has said in regards to strategy I would add, be positive, optimistic, patient and never give up. Believe you will win, believe you can rebuild if you get cut down to a short stack and take any coolers or bad beats in stride. Play the game you are comfortable playing and have fun!

Post a rail on here for us to follow you! Play well and good luck!
