Hey all...

I started playing online poker this last month. And, I enjoy playing mostly SnG's because I like the bigger win, and I feel playing SnGs is a lot more planning and strategy than cashgames.

I started playing SnG 45-90 man. However, I find 2-4 hours can be a bit long play. Especially when I play at night, and I become tired and make bad plays.

So I want to know what you think about these 45-90 man turbos? I feel there is A LOT MORE SHOVE. And although it can be very lucrative, personally it's a lot riskier. But I find that perhaps, it's my strategy as a new player. I'm lacking. I've been focusing on pot-odds and EV. I should be learning ICM soon, anything else?

I also considering playing single table SnG. But I find the payout to be fairly poor. Can the single table be lucrative long-term? Should a good player really get top 3 for a good enough percentage of the time to profit?

Thanks!

I enjoyed the single table games and they suit my lifestyle as I can't spare a few hours at a time consistently to play poker so being over and done in under an hour is fine and should help with your focus and concentration. You'll definitely need to learn more about ICM to succeed however and bubble play becomes increasingly important.

shoving is an important part of these games. May help you to play more than 1 tables, so it is not as big of a deal if you bust

Well I noticed that first place yields 4 buyins, second place 2.3 buy ins and 3rd only 1.4 buyins. So you really have to consistently place in the top 2. at least every few games to break even.

You couldn't be more wrong.
Cash games are way more difficult and strategy-based then SNGs or MTTs.
Ask anyone who played professionaly both of them ;)

That depends also of your bankroll and of what you like to play.I like to play MTT 0.11$ max.The game is 400$ gtd and are more games like this with a higher buy in.2k players and 400 places paid.I find this cool, and also i play 1.50$ HU.

You do it's true but it's certainly possible especially with a tight, aggressive strategy at the micro levels. I used to play the $2 + 0.25c single table SNG's at Full Tilt and increased my bankroll by over $400 over 500 tourneys. Play disciplined poker and it's certainly possible to money at the micro levels.

I think if 2-4 hours is too long for you, try cash games. ;)

I have trouble there too.

The 45-90 player turbo sit and go's seems like a good tourney to be in. I would suggest playing one every 3rd day. About the time your do to hit the big one again. There comes a point when both should win and the another showdown with two others. You will only to propel about a third of the time. Yo could do this too. Play a 10 dollar sit and go after five 1 dollar sit and go's. Make sure you try to win the 1 dollar sit and go's and if you do figure that in the count. Since you won your no longer do for a win. So you have to delay the 10 dollar sit and go.

P.S
Yeah a 25 dollar month nine player tourney sit and go with points all month long would be cool. Something like that in the long term would be fun. Get your 100 tournaments in by end of month. Well you get the picture.

My advice is play freeroll. Find private tourney and play free. For example play 24hBet or RedStar. Even on Net Bet there are several private freerolls. Then poker stars!!! There are 4-5 restricted freerolls. Try and be SMART)) good luck

Actually I don't have a clue what you're suggesting here for OP.

OP, as far as what tournaments might be best for you... 'maybe' start out playing the STT (single table) & 'maybe' stick with that format for awhile. It's a good place to build yourself a decent foundation to work from.
Then, 'perhaps' move to other formats... ie. 45man Turbo SNG, or 18plyr. SNG (personally I always preferred the 18 & 27man 'regular' speed SNG's as I found it possible to obtain the highest ROI from them & most money as far as time/$ goes.).

In the single table SNG's, a decent player will be ITM (in the money) around 39-41% of the time. Any ROI above 0% is decent although in the lowest buyins it will be possible to maintain a higher winning percentage (with higher ROI) than it will be as you move up in buyins (at higher levels, +1% is good... in micro/low more like +10 to +15%)
