So I'm at the final table of a 45 man $26 on Full Tilt, there are seven of us left and only six get paid. Blinds are 400/800 and I am sitting on about 5200 in chips. The average stack at the table is 9000. As I sit on the big blind, I am dealt ace king and someone with about 8500 goes all in, and the action is then up to me. I decided to call, and lose to his pocket two's (gross). Was this a good call, or should I have waited for better cards? Let me know what you guys think. Good luck to you at the tables.

You were in a flip and it didn't go your way. That is unfortunate.

some would say you made a good call, I mean you did afterall hold AK and were only dominated by 2 potential hands. But in a bubble situation I always feel it is better to be shoving than to be calling. You have to consider what your opponent's shove could mean. Big hands (AK, AQs, 1010+) tend to get raised to induce some action, while smakker hands (AJ, A10, 22-99) tend to get shoved becaus that player wants to play the hand but does not want to see a flop. Unless that player was exceptionally loose, I would tend to fold.

I find it's best to be the first to raise the pot (either standard or shove) in that situation than to be the one calling. As far as waiting for better cards, they don't come much better 7 handed. You should think if it as not wait for better cards, but wait for a better situation to get your stack in.

Also, what position was this shover in? Makes a difference as to call and fistpump or consider folding. If the shover was on the button, call it, if they were UTG, mayhaps a fold. Overall you didn't really do anything wrong. Like I said at first, you just got the wrong end of a flip.

Less than 10BB, you have to go here. Only situation where I might not...if you use a HUD and you see his VP and PFR are both really low, and there are other stacks that are in worse shape, I might wait for a better spot on the bubble.

VP = how many times you voluntarily put money into the pot
PFR = pre flop raise

Both are represented by %
