I watch TV so it was not boring and not get to sleep, God forbid. Bored sitting doing nothing for 3 hours. Anyway, most of the time the game has to do fold.

Many times I'll open a few cash games. It does seem that every time I go to the kitchen or bathroom I come back sitting out with AA or KK in the muck. :) This is actually one of the big disciplines of poker. Everyone is a little different, but you have to not get bored and start playing hands you shouldn't.

If you pay attention to every hand, you won't be bored. Try playing with nothing but quiet and then add music or maybe ESPN in the background. Test your acceptable level of distraction.

getting bored is a good thing! means you are making it deep!.. or not? i think many folks play freerolls/tourneys for the "entertainment value".. like donking folks with terrible hands. I get bored alot.. but winning $$$ makes up for it!

I hate early stage so much. ZZZzzzzZZZzz. I have a two monitor setup so I like to watch porn on one screen and ship biscuits on the other.

you should be watching the action and the players when not in a hand especially playing live but i'm assuming you mean online so if you're not watching the plyers, what i dois open up youtube or pandora and then open either email or answer surveys from sites that pay you.

I usually surf the web while playing, I'll read the forum, check my emails and even write a post, as I'm doing right now. I know it's probably best to concentrate on the game, but I find myself easily distracted during long games.

If you're that bored you should consider adding more tournaments to your schedule.

Back when I used to play 10+ small stakes tourneys at a time on pokerstars, I would have some deep runs and good scores almost daily.

Assuming you're a winning player, still playing within your bankroll, and don't suddenly become terrible when multi-tabling, more volume means more money. :D

The problem with long games usually means a lot of players. For me, I have to have another game going or I lose interest in holdem entirely. It helps me keep my focus on the game and keep me from making some stupid calls/plays ;)

Try stepping your game up. Learn how to play more hands. Doing something else might work for other players but it doesn't work for me. I lose interest in the game and lose focus on other players which leaves bad results.
When you play more hands wisely you have the opportunity to earn more chips which helps you be more aggressive with more hands. :joyman:

You may search around the forum for interesting hands or other cool topics or you may enter into another tournament/cash game. I prefer to enter into a turbo Sit&Go for 9 players so you may enjoy a fast 30 minutes game, while the tourney is taking place.

Also there is also the useful habit of putting some notes to the players on your table. Those notes could be very valuable if you meet someone of them in decisive hand.

Sitting back on the couch and listening to some good music for 20 minutes or so , a search in the CC forum/prepare some posts , email/news/youtube search , watch a tv programm/series , a movie rarily that I have seen in the past , a tournament live or online cards up . I have a 2-3 minutes or 5minutes break to wake up and play better sometimes , talk to the cellphone/friends , or I open more tables .

Follow the game is my best advice. You could miss vital information about your opponents while you watch a TV show or something. For example I had an opponent who lost 80% of his chips because of the river card. That made him go all-in the very next hand and I had K5o but I knew he had a weaker hand because he got tilted. Well his hand wasn't weaker but I still doubled up. The point is you could miss something like this if you watch a movie or you scroll on facebook.

I play other non-poker games. Watch TV, although I don't like to spilt my attention. I also have a busy house so I'm usually up and down getting stuff for my kids. Most time you don't have to pay attention in the beginning but just play ABC poker

I've gotten into the habit of listening to audiobooks while I play. It lets me focus on the tables but still have something else going on so I don't get too fidgety :)

Try to add another table, maybe a cash game so your mind stays on poker. TV can distract you to a point that may effect your game.
