I think yes! Really well played hand, there was a straight draw or flush draw possibilities ;) Also great check after flop, but for you this was a sick beat, whatever I have seen something like this at wsop main events, so you are not the only one :) Wish you a luck next time :) By the way, how big was a buy-in?

Just a cooler flop... and a sad reality of poker, but one we must realize will happen every now and then no matter how well one plays.

Wauuu, great play by AA, you couldn't even imagine that he was have so strong cards!
I know sometimes playing like he when I'm strong on the flop, I just check and wait opponents move.

I think these are the moments where you have to think deeply how the hand was played. Not just by you but also the villain.
You flat and he raises to 3BBs. That's one signal. Although he has you well covered and his range could be pretty wide. Then a check check.
You bet and he goes all in. Now why would he go all in there considering that you have a considerable stack and very close to the money. Surely he doesn't want to loose a big amount of the stack at that moment of the tournament.

So when he way over bets the pot you have to rewind how the hand was played. How would you play if you were the BB holding Aces at that moment?

You'd surely or mostly raise pre flop from the BB, and then when you hit the set you'd lay the trap by checking. Just as you did with 8s.

Since you did bet after the turn, he thinks you've taken the bait so he shoves

But even if I say like this, I am also likely to take the bait myself :D

Other than raising pre, how would play a set of 8s there?

Maybe bet out flop, but everything is pretty standard.

Both players played it fine.

You're losing that hand no matter what. He has the best hand pre-flop and afterwards. You're not trapping with mid-trips. You do have a powerful hand but as we see that its not the nuts. But he could've easily had AK, AQ or Ax really. The shove is a little off on his part but he got what he wanted, your chips.

Yeah I ask a lot of poker players around there, most of them telling nothing I can do in the situation, perfect set-up. You love the flop, you like the bet against you (your hand waiting for) and double up. I read him also AK, AQ

wouldnt say excellent, more so just a cooler, regardless of the lines that were taken, results were still going to be the same.

it's a cooler but on the other hand if you had make a 4500 raise from the button and the big blind re-raises you, you might have had a chance to fold your 88 and get away from the cooler situation

Rarely do I limp pre but ok it has to do with each tables's dynamics. So I don't like the limp pre but you can't really escape from a set over set. Unless you had an indication that he was the tightest player in the world and he never goes all in with something less than the ''nuts'' .

Well played by me you were just unlucky , GG!
