I have been playing Double Up S&Gs over the last couple of days, just wanted to know your opinions on them.

After the registration fee, as long as you win two out of three then you're in profit, and you just have to outlast half of your opponents

In this format you really cant afford high rake, I grinded them for a while but 10% rake was almost unbeatable to me.

good for building a bankroll, but like stated the rake on them is tough to overcome long term imo.

I use to play quite a few of those managed to build a bit of bankroll, you almost have to not play to win as I recall, not risking your chips so you can stay in, doesnt matter if your first as along as you can hang on. its not for everyone especially those who like to push the envelope

I used to play a lot of double-ups on ACR (they are no longer offered on that site).

I was a losing player online then. My bankroll was shrinking, no matter what game I played. But it shrank more slowly playing double-ups than it did while playing other SNGs. They were a good way to gain experience.

Be aware when reading about tournament strategy that some advice that works for other tournaments does not work for double-ups. In other tournaments we fight to win first place. In double-ups we only try to survive.

I think this article is excellent:

they have a bot of a different strategy to them and obvsl you have to adnjust to the short stack (and if you are one everyone will try to adjust and bust you)

I think that they suck... I figure if they are going to double your buy in the they shouldn't give you even money $2,$4 etc.. I think it should be $2.20,$4.40;etc..

I 100% agree. I play them for fun sometimes, but I can't play them for
long-term profit, because they don't actually double you up after the rake.

The ones I've played are 8 player, in this example I'd actually play these exclusively if the top 3 places got paid equally, then I think that could be very profitable.
