I have noticed that in rebuy tournaments there is often the option to do a double rebuy. Even when you just started and you still have your initial stack, you can already double up, by making a rebuy.
What do you think the best play is, just normal buy in and gathering chips on the way, and when you bust doing a rebuy, or starting the tournament with a double stack by making a rebuy immediately and when you bust making a double rebuy?
Like this it becomes a more expensive tournament, and reaching the money doesn't mean break even anymore, but a loss, so you would have to get deeper to reach the break even point.

I play a lot at Full Flush and most of the MTTs there are set up the way you are talking about. For me, I have to have some rules in my game, so with the MTTs I can only rebuy once, and I do that right off the bat. Many player do the same because that way you have many players covered. But if I lose my buy ins before the first break, I don't rebuy again. I just quit, but if I do make it, I add on and then start heading for the FT. Really think about the rebuys, because you can make to many and that makes it even harder to get your money back and maybe a few $ too. GL to you

So basically starting with a double stack and not doing any rebuys anymore, and after that getting the add on.
I thought about that too yesterday while playing a tournament like that. I didn't do it though and quite fast I was able to triple up. So then I was glad I didn't do it. However, I was then thinking that if I had done it, I would have even more chips and a better chance on a deep run.

Another option I thought about, is waiting till the end of the late registration, starting with the double stack by doing the immediate rebuy and then 1 min later adding on. Like that you still have a decent stack and you avoid early busts.

Delaying your play won't help you, or anyone much. They do that at ACR/BCP and it's not long before the big stacks take them out. This is just me, I want to be in there fighting for my position. And as far as that goes, if I'm playing my game, then I will still have you covered 4 to 1. And then there are the blinds getting bigger. Takes a chunk out of you every round. I feel like if I go in like that I would kind of be lost. Like i missed something big. And last of all, if you go in like that, you will have to play your hands twice as hard, and you are going to be forced to play more hands trying to catch a pot here and there. I never have and never will wait out that first hour.
