Hello,

Just wanted to get the boards opinion on Double or Nothing games. I feel like when I play the low level DoN games I have a better return as if I do a SnG or higher level DoN.

Is this type of game looked down on or is it seen as legitimate?

Thanks

DONs are boring as hell and hardly qualify as poker in my opinion.

In my experience these double up sit n gos are the easiest tournies to beat on a regular basis but you need to be able to fold best hand and wait to get paid.

These games teach you to have lots of patience and to fold if you think you might be beat. Yes, I think they are a legitimate game

DON's are easily rigged by collusion. Because of this you will not see many people playing those games. My opinion on them is to look at all the tables and if you see the same names playing and registering, steer clear...you will be targeted.

The only draw back I've found is sometimes they can take over a hour and a half to play out ,which can drain your patience a bit,but generally there not that difficult to place if your patient.

Yeah, sometimes its ridiculous the lengths people will go to for a $1.50 game of DoN

I think it more depends on what you're looking for. I personally am trying to get in a grinding way and thus these would take far too long and for far too little profit to be worthwhile. However, if you're just looking for some time to kill and don't care if you win much, then I feel these could be a solid game for you. I've played them before, but not quiet my thing.

The last DoN $1.35 I played was a damn rock garden. It was the most difficult dollar I had to earn all day. I stopped playing them that day after that experience.

Literally we were 10 handed for over a hour and the blinds/antes were HIGH. Nobody wanted to get knocked out. It started turning into a cross your fingers and pray that your shove holds when hitting the 10-15 BB range.

I play a lot of DoN's on different rooms and have played them at different levels. T think the type of players you encouter varies a lot from room to room. Also (Hyper)Turbo or Regular is a big difference as to how players play.
And like any type of poker game, with the right techniques and tactics they can be profitable or not.

So if you like playing those, then find the right way to play and type of DoN that fits your style of play and make money :)

I sometimes do not have enough patience in these tournaments, and tournaments are very good.

Yes, I like the double or nothing sng games, as there is always some yahoo who thinks he the best and gets put out first. I have been very successful playing in these as patience usually pays off.

i played 100 straight of the double or nothings. Both single and two tables at a time in the $5 to $10 range. I finished with a 58% win rate.

Its not that players are easy but i believe strategy is more straight forward. At this rate it's a slow grind.

I'm not a huge fan of the Double or Nothing or Fifty50 however some folks do quite well with these. I found I had to be super patient and pay extra attention to the players at the table. Like someone said, it's the hardest dollar I had to earn.

In here, the risk is somewhat low and the payout is also low.

Agree above, its a slow grind.

50-50, much rather play blackjack at my local casino.
I'd much rather spend the time and energy on tournaments.

Since these are the games that cheaters collude most in, I usually don't play in them. Also I hate how slow the game is. It's boring and you might as well play heads up sngs.

Idk, I like them... yes its a grinders pardise or hell by what ever way you want to look at it, the play is slow and you have to be patient but I think they are very easy to place in and if you dont like varience or are trying to build your bankroll then they are great. I also dont understand why people would cheat more in these then any sit and go. as most of the time people cheating split the total amount won so even if one guy is first, next second so on they all share the money equaly... I think alot of these theories about online cheating are just theroise. there is definitly cheating but the way people thinking its done is kind of illfounded most poker players cheating together are good friends.

I actually like these tournaments. I find them pretty easy to cash in if you can harness some restraint. Often I'll play one, then if I win use that winnings to enter a higher end tournament. Then if I cash in THAT one, use that winnings to...

The key to making a good amount of money in these games is playing a TON of volume. Even if your RIO is only 2% you can make a ton of money in RB. Of course u have to be good at multi tabling to do this.
