In poker tracker I've noticed that if was a raise preflop, I never do donk flop.. Think this leak and i miss many value ..

The question is how often you do donk bet , in what the board ( wet or dry ) and against a opponent ( TAG , LAG, Rock, passive etc )

Donk bet boards that your opponants range does not hit very well.. donk bet shove in late game any board (stop n go). Against bad multitablers you can donk really wide and they will usually just give up if they.miss..

You can donk any type of player depends.

Against tight players you can donk low boards. Against loose players you can donk both wet and dry boards. Against fish donk with strong linear ranges for value and dry boards as a bluff(not often though).

Just use common sense. Work out some generic opp types and work out what types of things you can do with diff boards. The above will hopefully get u thinking

If they play straightforward then donk bet a lot on any board you hit (especially a good draw - unless you plan to check raise a continuation bettor) that they likely didn't hit - against a passive player consider doing this with air if you think they raised with unpaired high cards. You'll win without a fight often enough for the donk bet to be profitable.

Against better players you run the risk of telegraphing a medium hand by donk betting so you need to donk bet some of your monsters too. Against a high CB% player you don't need to donk bet because they'll bet for you. Float - see the turn - reevaluate.

This is a good reason to mix up your play. Donk betting happens a lot to guys who are known nits who only raise preflop with big cards - all paint. Then, on boards with all middle cards, they get chewed up and spat out. Yet, if you showdown say, a 8-9 suited that you raised with UTG, they are going to have to think twice about donk betting you, or do so at their own risk. You are just not predictable at all.

The best time to bet into the preflop raiser is when you really hit a good hand that also hits their range in some way and they will call! This makes you more chips. Simply D-betting to pick up the blinds and antes sounds good until you get called. Then what? You either have to continue your bluff or fold to aggression.

This is also why so many people call with a wayyyy-to-wide a range. They think they can Donk bet a guy off a pot. It often works until you get into a situation you did not plan on - like D-betting bottom pair into a calling station with two overs. He isn't going to fold, so you better hope bottom pair, crap kicker holds up. It only takes one or two mistakes to see your stack evaporate.

I have also seen guys donk bet and get shoved on. Then what? Well, they often call, thinking that crappy one pair hand with crappy kicker will hold up to the river. Then they get shown the over pair or two overcards which you better hope don't hit. Often, they do, and the donkey better is railed.

I'm not saying don't use it, but I am saying it's over used. The cats out the bag - you donk bet, get called, then an ace comes and the guy bets big - what do you do? Well, that Ace hits his range, you only got bottom pair. Calling can get you in real trouble, folding means you just wasted a lot of chips for nothing. Most likely, the guy does not have the Ace, but he does know what you are doing. Are you going to risk your MTT on one bottom pair hand to the river for a big chunk of your stack? No, and the other guy knows it.

I often make a bet on a dry flop , I think is a good strategy to play against a very small number of Aggressive players

Donk bet ?????? why would you donk bet if you dont have a plan ( reason ) for what you are doing . I find that you should never just do things with out a reason or a purpose . Thats my 2 cents worth .

Have a good Day and good luck donk betting .

Do you mean by "if I was a raise", that you had raised or that your bet has been raised by someone else?
In first case, I think it is not called "donk bet", but a c-bet. And it is certainly a leak to never c-bet. I always c-bet in a HU pot.

In the second case, if You are OOP and have been raised, I would only donk bet, if I have a piece of flop which is vulnerable, or if I can pretend that I have something like this. I mean something like a low pair. The purpose would be to push the v out of the pot.

I mean it makes no sense to donk bet on an A high flop, if you have nothing.

reasons to donk bet:

I have a weak or marginal hand and the flop missed villain's perceived range

I have a strong hand and flop hit villain's range.

unless it's one of those 2 situations it's usually better to check/fold your weak hands, or check to induce a Cbet with your strong-ish hands.

Also, stack to pot ratio is a factor. This is mostly for executing a Stop n Go which is a specific type of donk-bet.
