That depends on a lot of factors - your table image, your position, the type of players you are up against, etc.

If you want to steal - and you should seek these opportunities in tournament play - watch your opponents and pick your spots to do it most effectively.

How big is YOUR chip stack, if you have the table dominated, then go for a steal every chance you get. Haven't you ever saw a player raise dam near every hand, and drag 8 outta 10 pots? When it gets down to the money line, a lot of players will tighten up too much, leaving the door open for a good thief. You don't get many premium hands so it's much easier to run the weak-too tight player off their blinds. Good Luck!

It depends. I see you're talking about DoNs, and if you're on the bubble, you should certainly be careful. Several factors should be considered when making decision and it's not that simple.

If you can provide some examples or situations you found tricky or difficult, post it here and I'll be glad to help you.

You can copy the hand or you can just type it, it doesn't really matter, as long as you provide us with relevant information.

BTW, the problem with DONs is if you dont have the right strategy then you get knocked out too easily
and given that you was discussing about stealing says a lot

first rule of DONs is you sit tight, there is no need to try and steal, blinds arent going up that fast, and when they do a steal attempt can only help if you have a stack that can withstand a call, and if you have this size stack then in a DON you have no need to steal

The basic concept is once you hit 10BB you are in shove and fold mode, you want to get into as few flips as you possibly can, so if somebody shoves into you, you wouldnt call too often, remember...... survival is the key to these, so the fewer hands you see the better your chances are of surviving, this is why these feel robotic and boring :(

OP had referred to when the blinds were bigger Kingm, which in any situation you have to steal to stay alive (as we all know can't always wait for a good hand before we run out of chips). It is a very tight game, although you will comes accross the fish as well who suck out a runner runner flush on ya (happened to me last night in one on titan).

For the most part as others have mentioned you will need to have a feel for the table and the blinds you are going to try and steal, it will also depend on their stack size as when you come to the bubble in a DON you get people in survival mode but you must also realize in this situation that you don't want to double up any shortstacks either and windup being the shortstack yourself and then finding you go out on the bubble.

There are some great threads of knowledge on DON strategy, specifically one in the goldon archives and I had a thread that had some discussion on DON's in reference to the DON vs the Fifty50:

You need a much bigger bankroll to grind MTTs. Wait until you have about $50 until you even think about grinding $1 MTTs

Take the occasional shot at $1 MTTs when you have about $30 or so. But to actually grind them you need at least 50 buyins and that's just for the lowest MTTs in reality 100 buyins is more correct BRM for MTTs

For now concentrate on the cheapest DONs until you have a BR that can handle the variance of MTTs

all depends on your bankroll, your position and as the table ... if there are aggressive players, lose, etc. .. and in that moment the tournament this ... the size of the blinds, the larger you try to steal more ...:jd4:

I would recommend having at least 20 Buyins at the lowest limits.

Dont rush and take your time. The most important thing for you is to learn optimal DoN strategy, and to be able to beat these games constantly, especially if you're a beginner. If you manage to do that I'm sure your bankroll will grow as well.

How big is your roll and what stakes do you play?
