ive been getting back into poker and my best game is double or nothings but since my bank roll is very low, im only playing 2 dollar games. im normally quite profitable at this level i understand how the format works i got my own strategy however, last couple of games ive had, ive played only 1 hand!!!!! and the typically you see people going all in with silly hands like q k coin flip moments are common, my question is, is it even possible to learn or improve at these game types when you can simply play like one hand and your good to double up some games ive played i didnt even need to play ''poker'' and yet i win and felt like ive done nothing not improved just one a silly 2 dollars lol

Games like this are beatable because people don't understand simple concepts as push/fold. They also don't understand how a flat payout structure affects ICM, if they even know what ICM is, and how large the bubble effect is.

It's a different form of poker than most people are used to playing and certainly different from flippaments they see on TV.

slighty annoying though my goal is to play 100 of these 2 dollar DoN games but if you really do get just midless play like this how can i learn and improve and move on to higher levels of DoN like 5 dollar games when you can just fold into the money >?

The play will be tougher but it doesn't really get anymore interesting because it's essentially a solved game.

You've been luckier than me at these tables. I WISH I can find some tables where donks knock each other out and I don't have to do anything. Last 4 times, I've finished 6th 3x and 7th the other time. All it takes is for K9 to take out your AQ once and it's over.

To me, at DoN's, the only objective should be to finish in the top 5. It's very difficult to play any real poker because if the format you play is similar to the one I try at Carbon, your starting stack is so low, and blinds/antes go up so fast that usually one or two hands is enough to determine if you win or not. No poker skills required other than knowing when to shove and when to fold.

Good Job man!. If your doing well and your strategy is profitable in the ong run then thats great!. One hand ftw :). suprising but stuill possible, thats the beauty of poker you can only play one hand and be chip leader :). If your doing well i would keep playing them. just dont steam off your chips and keep praticing good bankroll management! its the true only way to do it playing poker. There is just too much variance to risk more then wat you can afford!
Hop that help and gl in those double up games :))
