I have started to do fairly well in the freerolls cashing in what I feel like at my most conservative guess at least 25% of the cardschat FRs and even a few others. Has anyone ever gotten their bankroll strictly from freerolls and then moved into middle to higher stakes from there? How do you keep going when you start needing to buy into tournaments and spending some of your bankroll. I have started to play small buyin MTT's and some SnGs. Cashed in a $1.10 R+A for 38 bucks on sports betting so now i have around 50 with that plus my freeroll winnings. What do some of the people with experience building BR from FR have to say about this situation?

It depends on what kind of games you want to pursue in the future. Do you want to play cash games, freerolls, or tourneys? Each one requires a slightly different skillset and bankroll management.

In my opinion, $50 is enough to start playing any type of poker at microstakes. If your bankroll falls a bit, just sign up for some more freerolls and build it up again.

I think Americas Cardroom is good site to build from zero. They run $10 freerolls about twice an hour everyday all day. You cash in one of those freerolls for a 50 cent minimum. Once you cash in it, they have 50 cent mtts, or on demand $25 mtts for 50 cents.

The beauty about that is since the freerolls run 24/7, you don't really care if you bust out, because another is probably getting ready to start. If you stagger them right, you can get 3 going at once, each at different stages in the tournament.

The key is to keep playing the freerolls while you add in some micro stuff.

Yeah, good point. Maybe run a $.50 tournament along with your freerolls. If on days you feel you aren't running too hot, just play the freerolls.

Depends where the freerolls are.
On some only luck. Also get with freerolls and then untwist CIS 1-3 and 5-10 cache

I like to play freerolls. It's fun and there's no risk of losing your money.

I am in a similar situation, intend to build up about $50 on ACR and then mix in some micro tournaments.

Yes, I had such an experience, it's even good, take care of BR, because you make it from scratch. You can play the SnG 6max or Zoom 0.01 / 0.02 + sports betting. But it is important to continue to lead the right bank management. And do not play poker with alcohol)))

I've won a little bit from freerolls on ACR. Seems like my best options are the $0.50 MTTs or $1.50 SNGs. I'm leaning towards the SNGs but I wonder what other people think.

Freerolls are great because at the end of the night the worst you can do is break even.

Chasing lost money has been a downfall for me more than once. Good bankroll management is key.

poker is about a risk. without risking it's not poker. there are no strategy in freerolls. it's all about luck.

As it is still a small bankroll, you can always get back from Freerolls, I play only0.10 to 0,55 max. on a regular basis.only some special Tournaments with high prices e.g. 1$ for a 5k tournaments I try sporadically.
Besides there are always some nice SAT's to follow, to get cheap into higher tournaments. But I don-t exceed 30% of the real buy in, or let-s say if it didn-t work out after 3 tries, I will try again another day.

Several times I tried this after building 20+ BR from freerolls and always went bad.I think you are now in much better position to start with micro MTT's and Sit&Goe's :top:

Very first reply, and totally in line with my opinion!
First time I kept patience until building 50 USD from freerolls went very successful, and started playing 0,50 Sit&Go's and 1,00 Spin&Go's - soon I increased my BR to 80+, but my bad discipline put me on some challenges, and after some time I left with almost 0 BR :p
So, I turned back mostly to freerolls and some micro games, and now I am again at some 60+. I think that is the target to start seriously with real money buy-in's

If you’re finding good success in free rolls there’s no reason to drop them and play micros. Play both of them and when you have your micro+freeroll BR over $100 you can start hitting higher stake MTTs but if you don’t find success always revert back to the micros before blowing your BR

I am in the same situation (also at ACR) with the same intentions.I'm over halfway there :D

Although I have a small bankroll at poker stars, I don't play there anymore as ACR is a lot softer and smaller fields.

OP... It all depends what you want to play. I have a saved chart courtesy of ChuckTs from a while ago.

ACR has some good ways to build funds on the cheap. The .10 100gtd. If you have a buck or 2, you can get into some good 1k games. Want to say I hate freeroll but I seem to do the same as I do in regular games, can build the stack and then cant seal the deal, so I ve decided to just free roll awhile. If you can make them deep, they dont play too bad. but just getting thru the minefields early takes getting used to

Freerolls are a great way to build a bankroll. with your $ 50 you can play tournaments with a buy-in from 0.50 $. I'm also trying to build a bankroll with playing only freerolls. akutell I play on pokerstars the high-school-league.

The nice thing about freerolls is that you do not lose your own money.
and after many hours, i´am happy to play for a few dollars. :)
