Imassuming its worthwhile. Once you pull off a Moneymaker lol. I have yet to try satellites but yea I think it's worthwhile when you don't got the big funds.

i play the satellites on ftp,
and have been winning MANY tics,
then I cash them out for tourney dollars
it has increased my bankroll greatly
I do play the odd game ($11-$26, but have also won $55-$330 tics)
if i played all the tics I won, I could be rich, or more likely broke

but really, satellites let you get into large buying games for a cheap price
very worth it in my opinion

depends on your bankroll

Should i just stick to money tournaments, or are satelites worth wile to get to the big money

if you want to play a mtt but the buyin is over your bankroll split (the way you want it to manage) then an option are the satellites,

I play a lot satellites from freerolls to others with a buyin in the range of my bankroll, and have managed to enter in some mtts in that way, so i feel confortable doing it once and againg, and also give the satisfaction to achieve something and warm up before the real mtt

last friday, for instance, i played a satellite 0.44, and won an access to a 4.40 and the i managed to itm and i finished with usd 12 out usd 0.44 so i felt good about the roi, he he

by the other hand if you r confortable playing small mtt and you have enough bankroll, well, then you can skip satellites

Playing sattellites are good if u dont have a great roll indeed...however overplaying them can be dangerous...you cant play too many of them (unless your Jorj95 lol) or else it can be -EV...also one key thing is to be sure your confident enough to be able to play if u do indeed win the sattellite....because just because u win the satty doesnt mean your going to cash in the target tourney!

not worth it, by not buying in directly you are saying that its not worth playing, so why handcuff yourself by playing a satty,

I play $5/$10 sattys to the big/hotter $55/$100 etc, usually as a shot take and chance of a deep run and it's a game where I know I'll play optimal in. For example, I woulden't play a $500 satty into a $5k tournament because I'd turn down +EV spots just to stay alive in the tournament.

Depending on how I feel, I'll usually just unreg from the higher buy-in seats I won for T$ but like I say, will play if needed. I think they are good for bankroll building, when my BR was tiny I used to play fpp/30c MTT satty's to the Big $11 and solely use the T$ for my SnG;s and was massively profitable in them as they are usually very soft games.

Like drinking your favourite beer, moderation is the key. I wouldn't personally play just satellites, but if you're enjoying a nice session of STT/MTTs why not have a go in a satellite as well? Those T$ can come in handy for your bankroll.

Sometimes I search satelites on PS for big tournaments ($100+). But most of them are turbo with rebuy/addon. They are more like gambling than playing normally for ticket.
On the other hand sometimes they have cool satelites for special tournaments but I usually got know of them after they started...

It is hard to tell if a satellite tourney is profitable or is just waste of time. It depends on so many circumstances. If you try to win a ticket from satellite you should be chosen carefully the right satellite because if you are giving big amount of money from your bankroll to win a ticket for big tournament its absolute bullshit if you have big bankroll you can try more often some freerolls. I think its also good if you wait till the last satellite for your aiming tournament because if you are good player and the fact that in satellites right before the start of the real tournament where you want to play there are mostly desperate players. And the last thing is that if u wanna win satellite its big risk that if u don't win it the first time you would like to play it again for the ticket and that way you can lose big amounts of ur bankroll if u are not reasonable.

I think satellites are a waste of time in pokerstars because they are mostly hyper turbo and it they end being a roulette. But in other sites like 888 satellites are a great way to win money. I usually play satellites to big buyin tourneys and I play to cash only, not for the win. And I make big bucks that way.

This is what makes them profitable a bad assumption like this. Players who think they are like roulette or outright gambling, will always make them profitable along with the bad players.

with satellites it can be easy to qualify and allows you to play a more patient game if top 25 qualify etc.

I think anyone who focused on satellites every day would adventually get a big score in a big tournament if they were decent players.

The nightly 100k, or nightly 50k is a great tournament to satellite too

I totally agree that rebuy satelites are very dangerous, because you could overcome the buy-in of the main event, in a very short time. Better play satelites without rebuy, addon, etc. These are achiveable to win tickets, and than - it depends on many factors.
For instance, last week I invested my last cents (had 0,14 - paid 0,11) to enter The Double Deuce Satelite with rebuy/ add-on on FTP. It was obvious, I can not make a rebuy (the main reason to enter it). And the miracle happened, I was among the top 3 to get tickets!
The fairytell for me, continued last Sunday after first half an hour playing the double deuce (20+2 USD buy-in). I fell very confident, regardless of 4300+ entries, had some difficult moments, but the most of the time I was among the top 100 in the MTT. Played strong hands, with enough aggression when the cards were on my side :), and very easy I entered ITM. Could be better for me personally either, but I finished 84th and cashed out 102,10 USD - a great ROI against 0.11 USD satelite entering...

Play in satellites is not necessary, if you easier to buy in to the tournament itself, rather than spending time on the passage of qualifiers.

In other cases, when it is not allowing you to play in a big tournament bankroll management, only if necessary..

As there is one point that is worth considering .. If the game in the qualifying satellites still causes difficulties, you should consider: Does it even aspire to the coveted tournament in which competition will be even more difficult?

Satelites are a very good option to earn a profit However keep in mind that all the money your win from those are tournament cash, so you wont be able to cashout the winnings unless of course you use this earnings to play mtt or stt.
you can choose to play the tourney you have qualify, and if you run well, you can win lots of money, risking only 10, or 20% of the buy in.

I try not to play in very many of them. You'll find most satellites they make you jump through a bunch of hoops to get to the big game.

Some satellites can be worthwhile, some can be a waste of time. If you can play in a satellite for cheap and make it ITM, then play the main MTT and win some money, than I would say it is worth it. Especially if you did not have the money to play in the origional MTT to begin with.
Some Sats take too much time, for little to no reward though, so look around to see if one is worth your while.
I used to like the SnG satellites on FTP before the big tourneys, when USA could still play in them :)

Nice job!
Now you have cool bankroll for micro GTD tourneys. :)

When its a direct satellite it´s ok to play. But when it´s a satellite for other satellite for other satellite and so on for me it´s not worth it because you have to go deep all tournaments to receive the tickets, and that´s not a easy thing to achieve.

How worthwhile satellites are depends on what your goals are. For example, some accomplished players who have millions in lifetime winnings and who seemingly can afford to buy into the wsop ME play satellites anyway. They apparently expect to spend less than full pop to get a seat, and feel that saving a few thousand $ is worthwhile. Others feel differently.

For a lot of players, satties are kind of like lotteries. It's worth spending small amounts to get the chance for a big payday even though doing this is -EV overall.

Only problem with satellites is that they consume a lot of time, that some of us don't have.

Probably

They probably are because the odds of winning two tournaments in a row are very slim. So the energy you are wasting with no pay out could be spent on real money
