At 5 handed, I personally seldom will play 22-33-44-55 hands unless I am first to act, then a good healthy raise will usually dim action from the rest of the table. These are fairly easy to get away from if resistance is encountered. 66-TT are the iffy hands. We know we have a decent shot at being ahead preflop, but also understand that we can get drawn out on easily.
JJ+ I will tend to play more agro pre. JJ I shove, qq I might get fancy and just call with (1/2 the time or so). KK, AA I could just as soon slow play trap as get overly agro.
So small pocket pairs want either a tight table, or position or both, and they need to be first to act. If your table is not tight, or a single player is deemed loose, a re-raise with small PP's is not unwarranted, but beware.
