Hello everyone!!!

Forgive me if this topic is already covered, but I would like opinions about the different stakes in general and more specific for pokerstars which is the site I play.

I play at the lowest stakes mainly $0.25 90 players STG, $0.25 Spin n Go and MTT up to $0.33.

It's about two weeks now that I'm playing poker, and I have a small amount of tournaments (around 200-250 I guess) and I'm doing well I think.

I was very fortunate to win a $0.33 Hyper-Turbo MTT with around $400 prize pool and I won $63 which added to my previous bankroll makes it almost $100.

I will keep playing for a while to the same stakes but I do think of moving up and I was wondering about what is the difference in the level of players between the $0.25 stakes (which I find pretty low and relatively easy to beat even though I don't consider myself a good player yet) and the $0.50, $1.00.

I feel that I may be overthinking it and that it can't be very different but as I mentioned before I would like your opinions.

Feel also free to mention which transition between stakes felt like a big difference to you and where the level starts to become really good!!

Sorry for the long post, thank you all in advance and good luck to your games!

From my experience there are not many differences between low and high stake tournaments.. The easiest win I've ever made was at the "hot 82$" (I had won a ticket from a satelite) I got at the payements very easy because at that tournament many players played very bad too much bluffing with nothing! I usually play much lower stakes and sometimes these tournaments are pretty difficult maybe because people with less money play more carefuly..

You must follow your strategy no matter what the buy-in is, if you play more scared at a big buy-in you won't get too far..

There are huge differences between micro and high stakes tournaments, namely how good the average player is in them. Of course there are fish in high stakes MTT's as there are in any MTT, but to say that you would have an equivalent average skill in a 25c tourney and a big ticket MTT like the hot 82 is definitely not the case.

As for OP, there would be very little difference in the play between a 25c and a 1 dollar tournament. They are both micros with a massive number of bad players. As a new player who is just learning the ropes you should shoot for having around 100-125 buy ins for whatever stakes you are playing. You can start to shot take 1 dollar tournaments with <100 dollars but you shouldn't be moving up to solely 1 dollar games until you are properly rolled for them. Good luck on the felts, and maybe start a challenge thread on here so you can keep us all posted on your successes :)

I play at 888 and I don't see much difference between the < $0.50 and the $0.50 to $1 tourneys. In fact I see the same players some times. Going up to $5 or $10 I don't think would also make too much difference in a way as there will still be lots of weak players, but I think you'd get a few more good players and those good players will be a fair bit better.

I wouldn't worry too much about skill levels of tournaments at the moment, focus on building your bankroll and sticking to BRM, then move up stakes when you can.
