How to start a very deep stack MTT? Of for example 300-500BB starting stack?
Should I play any hand at all just to check the flop, and know that I will still have plenty of chips behind? Or should I play tight, waiting for a good hand, while keeping my stack stable?

I do not have a lot of experience from MTTs but when ever I play I play tight at the start because those "small" blinds will creep on you if you keep calling.

I play a mixed style . I will see flops for cheap however you have to be ready to fold to a big raise with mediocure cards. I usually tighten up in the middle stages of the tournament.

hi!
you have to play tight pre flop and aggresive post flop
you have to learn to c-bet and 3-bet or 4-bet bluffing
also you have to change your bets and style often depending your opponents stacks and style

Dangerboy has some excellent advice there. I like deepstack poker tourneys because they favor skill over luck, which means you can be patient and really wait for good cards.
I like to spend the first hour or two of a deepstack establishing a very tight image, so that i may exploit that image later on when the blinds and antes are much more valuable. I know this is like 'tourney poker 101', but it really does work for me, and i've had a lot of success as a result.
Ultimately, like any other poker question, the real answer is, "it depends", becuase there are so many variables that influence what should be the best style of play at your table.
As a general rule though, i think slow and steady wins the race in the early rounds; give yourself enough ammo so that you can sprint to the victory. I think my metaphors are all mixed up here, but i think you get the jist.

In deepstack tournaments, the odds are you're going to be sitting at the table with the same people for quite a long time. So it's even more important than in normal MTTs to be sussing out your opponents, figuring out their habits, their calling ranges, their general card style.

And of course, they will be trying to do the same to you, so trying not to be predictable is important from the get-go.

For the first couple of rounds at least, that is probably more important than trying to win a few small pots. Then when the blinds increase and the pots get bigger you'll be in good stead to win more than your share of them.

I like to play a lot of hands early, when it is cheap. I try to build my stack through smaller hands while I wait for the big one. If you limp and have to fold the flop or to a raise, your only out 20-40 chips at most. That's a gamble I like everyday.

When your in a deepstack you can float IP more than a std structure, yo can 3bet bluff and semi bluff , In general Always try to lead every hand, not being passive and just call every hand and fold flop if u don't hit. Try check raising, abetting 2 streets. Gl

It is better to play tight, but sometimes (if you are in position) you can play pocket pairs and suited connectors.
