so you are playing your"" a game and making great decisions. but time after time you keep getting sucked out on , on the turn or river. getting it in good every time but loosing to players who just wont fold any semblance of a hand.
after this happens to me several times in a row anger kicks in for me. I absolutely hate feeling angry. I play poker for fun but I take it seriously when playing. now I personally don't consider anger and tilt to be the same. some may I don't. I don't tilt, the anger does not affect my decision making , it in fact makes me concentrate harder . but the underlying feeling of anger is there which is probably not good for my health :)!!! it doesn't happen frequently when that people continually suck out but the few times it does don't seem to justify getting angry. but it happens to me every time it happens.
I would just like to hear how others deal with the frustration of anger. ? I feel if I could just get over this emotional hump 100% of my sessions would be enjoyable instead of 95% of them.

thanks

You may want to invest in a Jarad Tindler book or Tommie Angelo, sorry if the spellings aren't correct. This would be a tilt issue. I would just advise to quit if at all possible if your feeling this anger that you speak of.

I've actually had people apologize to me after playing hands like that ,must be the way I'm smiling and the look in my eyes lol,for me it was time that took care of that, yea the first few years that I played I'd get pissed at how stupid can anybody be to play such a hand, but over time I've learned that's just the game ,but especially when I'm playing against a or players that don't play very much I've learned they will play any A till the river and 9 out of 10 times will hit making my pp K's no good, it takes time but you just realize it's the game , and you learn to just let it go!!! but yea it still pisses me off but just for about 30 seconds then I just go on!!

Yeah, it would be great if the best hand pre flop, or post flop or after the turn always held up. I would imagine that the 8 or 10 people who still played poker in this perfect world would have a great time playing with themselves:eek: , make that playing amongst themselves. You have the skill, discipline & understanding of the game, to not allow variance to negatively affect your play. I have absolutely no idea what you are on about here.

Most certainly not. Was wondering why OP, who says variance does not affect his play, which gives him a huge advantage over most of his opponents, is complaining about variance.

Put things into perspective. If you are a 90% favorite to win a hand, you are 10% to lose that same hand.

When you flip a coin, you are 50% to get heads. You may get 10 heads in a row. That doesn't change the percentage of the next flip. If you only looked at those 10 flips you would think it was a 2 headed coin. However, over the long haul, the odds are still 50/50.

Point being, don't worry if you got it in good and lost. You did what was statistically correct. In the long term, you will win your greater % of hands.

Let it go, and move on. Don't get mad. I say I am disappointed when I suffer a beat such as you describe, but never mad.

kenzie if you have no idea why I am on here you did not understand or read my post. I am not complaining about variance . I understand variance and accept it. all I was saying is that the variance makes me angry when I am taking an exceptional amount of bad beats and was just asking how others deal with it.

YOU can control 'your' ANGER because "you own it".

Otherwise, it owns you...is that the way you want it to be? If not, then take control.

I hate it when I lose. I get mad too.but only for a second. The moment the next hand starts ,you must have reset you emotions to neutral.

Yea me too, Iv learned to control it and maybe if im at final table and loose with KK vs j-10 - I will probably be angry but for a very short period of time - Like you said viny when the next hand starts Im all over it, I guess you should always keep inmind that this is a game of chance and all you can do is put your chips in when you have the best of it, if you have done that you should feel good about yourself

Exactly this.

Either you control your behavior OR someone else (or something does) ... but, it is always your choice.[/B

Your right. Its very difficult for me anyway. I just snap and I dont even think. I been trying and getting better but always something. I sure I need help. Wish I could help myself though for free.

The safest thing to do is leave the table, and take a nap, before you play again :)

players who play live will fold to a good table image with aggressive betting , online players dont fold thats what we live.. by and saddly thats what we die by. if we are lucky the 1s we win add up to more than the 1s we lose

Re-read what you just wrote here ^
Do you not understand that you are 'not accepting' of it if it's actually making you angry.

I usually take a break for a few hours maybe a day and relax. I listen to music , I watch TV shows, I go out with friends only to forget about the hands I lost and the way I lost them...Then I come back to play , feeling fresh and relaxed.
