Hello there, I was wanting to ask on how would you make a deal in a final table, would you think about the hours played/chips in play? or would you think about how good your opponents are and see if you could get a better deal? and or how much money you wanted ?

The deal is a good way to guarantee good money so let's see some things:
-How many chips did you have?
-Players in the table...
-Type of the tournament

If we have the chiplead in the final 5 players for example, but the players are regulars and pretty good and is a regular tournament in deep blinds, and u are not confident that you'll win that good players makes sense to deal, but if u are confident, players, are good, but not totally good and u have a lot of info of they, and u think you'll take it down, just put some pressure in that players and fight for the big money on top..
Let's see onother example we are in the final 5, but we have less chips, for example sunday million big money on top, with less chips want to deal to guarantee more money, in big tournaments, for ex the 5 place is 300$ with short stack you'll win more than 300$ for sure, so is a good deal for you because of your chips..
Now icm ou chip chop? if you're the chipleader, you win more money with chip-chop, but normally the players only accept icm, icm is more fair for everybody... so icm is a good option for everyone, everyone will be happy
Hope to help u with this

Time definitely plays in for me. And the total difference in pay out of the top spots in the tournament. For example, last night I was in a tournament and held about one third of the total chips with three left on was on a roll. We have been playing for more than six hours however and I was ready to be done. The tournament board showed the chop amount which was proximately 10% above what second-place would take. The short stack held only approximately 15 to 20% of the chips and leaving the chip leader with about half the chips. We didn't use ICM because I don't think anyone at this cardroom would know what that means, and generally chopping there is a fairly even deal. So in this instance, I was more than happy to take slightly above the second place prize to be done, and the short stack postured a bit about how he could double up a couple times and be back in it he was also happy to take the much larger take home than he would get for third place would have given him, and the big stack had won a much larger tourney the night before so he was willing to take a little less than he thought he might get it. And we all recognized that it could go anyway at that point since we had all had big chip swings with me being on the upswing at that time. So, that's my long-winded way of saying you need to think about what you want and why you are there and what you'll be happy walking away with. If it's a card room where people understand ICM, and use it, then I think you should consider that like the folks above sad. I often find that it's important to follow the custom small card room if you're a regular (or want to be).

Hmmm, really, I don't like deals although offcourse it's probably an advantage to everyone, however, for me to decide it would really be how my mood is in that stage of the game.. Am I playing well? Did I get good reading on the opponents? Do I want to continue playing for another hour or 2?

Really, it's up to you when to deal. Look how many chips you have and evaluate if you're in a good position to win the big pot or better to divide btw everyone!

I would consider chips in play, opponents, and lastly chop percentage.

I reaaly like deals especally at FT because skills are limited and money is distributed somewhat linearly.
