I play at bodog mainly SnG's. This will sound crazy but I seem to do better at the Bigger Buy in Sng's (like $20 and $30) than I do at the Cheaper Buy ins ($5 and $10).

You would think of course the easier money is at the Cheaper tourney but it seems like the higher buy ins that the people respect the money they've invested and play more solid poker. Thus less suck outs for example... your Kings versus's the 94 suited that called your Big PreFlop Raise (Happened last night).

Anyways does anyone else find this to be true? I once heard Doyle Brunson talk about how he'd rather play experienced players rather than all these newbies in the big major tournaments because of the same thinking I described.

Thanks

This topic is beig discussed in almost every poker site I see. I also think that sometimes it may be better if you play high stakes but here are two simple reasons why low limit is better.

1) Lots of callers. You can always get your valu bets slightly increased and then get higher profit. Dont focus on KK or AA simply because they are easily beig cracked if you got payed by few people. Yet they are great hand but dont overvalue them and play them in a cautious manner. Go for suited connectors etc. then when u hit them jam the pot.

2) The lower the limits th less the tilt. You dont lose much if you lose in a micro SNG but on higher stakes you can easily go on tilt / tighten yourself too much simply because you are afraid to bet and lose.

no it's not crazy thinking. it depends in your style of play. that's too bad you can't adjust to the lower buyins, because it's a lot easier...but who cares when you can win in the higher ones.

I love low limit SNGs becuase the player have such high VP$IP.

I can get into a hand if i want pretty cheap. Usually it comes down to three ppl who are good and we fight for the spots.

People who play higher limits might have more money to burn and thus pay a little less attention .. Smaller players may be playing cautious ... high limit players have more money to loose...

this is wrong way of thinking. does this mean they pay less attention in the $50,000 buy-in HORSE? i think you got it backwards.

If your getting sucked out by 94 suited with kings from a big bet preflop, you have to understand that its obviously a novice playing and they will not be beating you all the time. If you were playing him HU for the win, you would eventually take him down.
In the end you will always come out on top and I would suggest playing all the different levels of the SnGs, just vary the playing style as you see appropriately and ignore the occasional bad play of the other players that might lose you some pots.

Yea, and a bad beat is called bad for this reason due to the fact its statisticly impropable, cuz the odds were on your side. Thus, if you play solid you should manage to survive one bad beat.

When you run across stuff like this, this type of stupidity needs to be encouraged. If someone sucks out with their KJo on my AKs. I will go out of my way to pat them on the back them on an excellent hand. Tell them how well played they did that hand. Samething if my AKs gets cracked by A-rag. "Well done, great hand. Very well played". Or if someone plays any two suited cards and they hit the flush. "Wow, great play. Great instincts displayed there"

As a skilled player you have the obligation to keep a sucker a sucker...and you do that by feeding their ego.

Whatever you do, please do NOT tap on the tank.

Thank you.
