Crazy Hero Call Against Wierd Betting Line. Would You make this Call?
I know this should probably be posted under tournament hand analysis, but I don't have a software to put the stats down for the hand, so I'll just do it here. Hope it isn't too big of a problem.
Villian stack is 25k/My stack is 25k
blinds are 200/400 with 40 ante
no info on villian (bovada and not paying attention to table)
I get dealt KQo utg+3, utg+2 calls, I raise 4x the bb, sb calls, utg+2 calls
checked to me
i bet half pot (1.9k) sb calls, utg+2 folds
turn comes 2h
sb leads for 5k, i tank for a bit and call
river 7h sb instantly shoves the 15k left in his stack
I tank for about 3 minutes total before finally calling
villian shows 7s6d and i rake in the pot
Why did I call here?
It seems like in this situation you are beat almost 100% of the time. The alarm bells go off here with his line of betting. What hands could he possibly be taking this line with that are stronger than me?
If he has a set hes going to check turn and hope that I keep firing, not lead out. If he has ace king hes going to want to control the pot size and keep it small with only top pair top kicker. Same with any 2 pairs. Backdoor flush doesn't seem likely, because he still wouldn't make a pot sized bet, he would half pot or quarter pot it to make sure I don't bet bigger. Aces are a possibility, but its almost the same thing as above. If I'm calling that huge turn bet that would send a shiver to anyone with AA on a board like that, making you want to check it down. In the end I decided the betting line smelled really fishy and seemed like either a stone cold bluff or a busted draw. Thankfully my analysis was right and managed to take the chip lead of the tournament on that hand.
Thoughts or comments? Do you call or fold here? What does his betting line tell you about his hand?
