What's the problem? The guy called off his stack with one pull at an open-ender where the Jh and 7h weren't clean outs. He also had pair outs with a Q or a T, but they were less likely to be clean.
That said, I'm not completely sold on shoving the turn. It's at least a little optimistic to assume you're ahead, and after the K hits, pairing you J looks less likely to win. So in large part, you're semi-bluffing for your tournament life. Not an awful play, but better if the opponent has given you reason to think your fold equity is high.

i remember this hand...i would say that since u were gonna shove the turn anyway you might as well have got it in on the flop...but its not like he would have folded regardless so the outcome would have been the same i guess

So based on my starting stack here $3809 about 19BB and flop gives me a nut flush draw and gut shot straight draw.
What's the better option here long term:
1) Semi-bluff the flop, and how much should a semi-bluff be in general? I put $950 into a $1600 pot..too small?
-should I have maybe checked the turn after not hitting?
2) or play passive and check-call to the river if cheap enough?
I kinda feel you gotta attack this flop being the pre-flop raiser.

C/r flop is interesting. I wonder, though, how many villains are capable of betting without holding at least A9? I doubt it gives any fold equity to speak of. (Or is that not the point?)
In general I would bet somewhat heavier on this flop, but since the pot is nearly half your stack I like the smaller bet, that implies you might still get away from the hand. This way the villain might be more inclined to push with worse draws and you still have outs against flopped sets and straights. So your bet was good. It still charged him enough to not profitably call with his SD, too.
I think bet/calling is ultimately the most profitable way to handle the flop, as opposed to shoving it outright, though obviously the downside is that we can get in an awkward turn spot like this. As Campbell92 said we are very much committed, check/folding is too gross. If it checks back there are a lot of river cards that make life suck even worse (that J was a good example). If v bets we have to call anyway, so I would prefer to bet myself.
