Most sites offer 7 day free trials. You might try DTB, I'm liking them so far, but granted I haven't delved deep into their SnG stuff. I really liked the Stox content while it was around, but don't particularly care for CR. Their site, forums, and content aside from some of the Stox stuff that was brought over just didn't appeal to me as much.
I'll give you the same advice I gave you when you bought a HUD. You don't need it to beat the stakes you're playing, and the information you need to beat the stakes you're playing is freely available on the internet.
Hmmm, I agree to a point. A HUD in a typical low-stakes STT SnG is hardly necessary, but I think if used properly it would still be helpful. You can readily see those stats that do converge quickly, and if you're a reg at those stakes you probably play against several other regs over time. If you can afford the HUD, and more importantly the tracking tools that come along with it and give you the ability to analyze your play (which is beneficial at any level, IMO), then I have to land on the side of it being beneficial, if not necessary.
But I'm surprised to see people suggesting that the coaching from paid sites isn't helpful at the micros. Granted, good micro coaching isn't easy to find and maybe the ROI won't be there for the lowest levels since many may not clear $30/mo to pay for it, but I think watching any respected coach or player working through hands and decisions as close to your stakes as possible is still helpful on some level, regardless of the stakes. If you can afford it, it's generally a safer bet than relying on free content found randomly on the web.
The problem with the freely available content that isn't vetted through a site (like it would be here at CC for instance) is essentially that you get what you pay for, and run the risk of getting some bad advice. Just digging for videos on YouTube, for instance, can seriously send you in the wrong direction -- you could run into the next Jason Ho, lol. If you're going to look for free vids and tutoring, do it through a forum like CC where feedback will be apparent, or where those making it are known and respected members.
I do agree though that if you actively participate here in the strategy forums, post HH's for analysis, and ask questions, you can learn what you need to know to hold your own, if not beat the micros.
? The cheapest I can see available is one month for 20,000, or booster ones.
You're looking in the FT store, that's something different. CR (and Stox when they were around) have a deal with FT called Truly
free poker Training which gives you monthly subscriptions, although I'm not sure where that 1300 point figure comes from -- CR is 5500 points/month, while Stox was 3000 or 3500 IIRC.
