Hey there, im new to this site and i wanted to share some thoughts about tournament poker and especially early tournaments. alot of people get pocket QQ's or pocket 10's and u see them going all in with like 100 BB. and when they get broken they cry.i perosnally dont care if im holding pocket aces or 3-5 of diamonds. all that matters is how well u connect to the flop.thats what tells u the real strength of your hand and your potentials.so i always try to see cheap flops. before investing anymore money. cause at the end of the day what are aces? ACES are the best worst hand.meaning they r just 1 PAIR. ....1 pair. do u really feel comfortable putting ur tourney life on the line with 1 pair? although ur most likely going to win,i still never feel invincible so i preffer to see the flop first.any comments?

well in general your post is true, but the problem is that your desire to always see the flop is easily exploitable. If i was playing against you and you were always limping in or min raising with high pocket pairs then i would shove every time and you would most likely fold (based on your post) unless you had AA or KK. Since the majority of the time you wouldn't have those hands, in a tournament setting where time is limited, I would pick up a great amount of your chips.

I get where you're coming from, and i suppose you are about half right. Yes it does matter what the flop is and how u connect with it but there's a problem with trying to do so cheaply all the time. 1. you're allowing too many players to the flop so you're battling more cards. 2. you're missing out on chips. It's ok to play tight but not so tight that you're not going to reraise someone preflop with a great hand. 3. as the player above me posted, people will pick up on that you won't play a big pot freflop very often and they'll be raising you off your chips. You must remember, poker isn't always about the cards
