If your question is is the C-Bet still a profitable move then the sort answer is definitely yes.
You need to be aware not so much of when to use it but more specifically when not to use it. There's a good thread on here about WA/WB (way ahead/way behind) have a read of that.
Also understand why you bet: to quote Harrington he said we bet to:
1)Make better hands fold
2)Make weaker hands call
3)Make draws call at unfavorable odds
A lot of this comes from your read of villian - add fold to c-bet to your HUD (if using one). If villain is a calling station then you should only be betting for value when you think you have him dominated. Equally, if villain is fit or fold and you hit a monster consider checking to induce a bluff on the turn/river.
