Not sure if this is where this should be posted but here goes.

I won a ticket via a satellite to a $110 buy in tourney. The prize is a Carribean Cruise + $1100 buy in to Heartland Poker Tour Main Event onboard the Oasis of The Seas + some cash for expenses to get to Ft, Lauderdale

My question about this is, I noticed after I was registered that it is a Rebuy. I have the ticket, but, would not be able to do a rebuy and add - on as I usually do in rebuys.

I need some advice on how to play this tournament.

I think I am at a disadvantage not being able to do the rebuy. I don't normally play at juicy stakes and just had some $$$ hanging around there and thought it would be a hoot to win the cruise so gave it a shot.

I am going to try to satellite in again this week as they are available again nightly.

Best of luck on winning the seat, George!

I would suggest you play your standard game. I wouldn't advise opening you range too wide bc you're not planning on firing additional bullets/rebuys. Rungood your way!!

The satellites have not been running as scheduled. Not enough players entering. Registered in 2 which were canceled and the late one last night went off.
There are now 11 registered.

How can I pull this off without any rebuys?

I played a couple $5.50 rebuy tourneys yesterday and didn't rebuy. I did well by playing tight. Some maniacs play these! I managed fairly well until my Q,Q was crushed by 6,7 sooted. That hurt my chances.

I finished 12th out of 68. This was without R or A. So it's doable, but, I'm definitely at a disadvantage/

Should I bite the bullet and just deposit? Or, look for backers?

Any more strategy help?

Play tight at the start of the tourney as the other players will open their ranges (we assume they have $$$ to spend on rebuys) and take advantage of that. In late stages open your range because you cant win a tourney playing tight (Be aggressive and steal a lot).

Not everyone is going to be so eager to rebuy at $1100. There will be some, but no that many. I play a lot of $500-$1000 tournament and generally I find there's about 5-10 rebuys per 100 entrants. What you do need to do is be able to take the add on if there is one because most people will. How much is the add-on and how many chips do you get for it?

The add on is $100 for 3000 chips.
The tournament is a $110 buy in for 1500 chips
Rebuys are $100 for 1500 chips

Tonight's 8PM satellite was canceled, still only 11 registered for the final

Oh i see this is just a satellite. Well you probably want to do the add on. I don't play a lot of online satellites so I'm not sure what the best strategy is here. Good luck! Hope you win!

I played this tournament this past Sunday. I was able to make some $ in the week leading up to it to do the add on.

There were 21 players in the tournament. There were very few, I think, 3 players who bought the rebuy immediately.

Started out very card dead and managed to win a couple smallish pots just prior to the add on. I got back to the starting stack and did the add on. There were 7 add ons taken. Late registration ended with 14 players left.

Made a decent run and made it to the final table, 8 /9. Table got crazy for a while as players were getting extremely loose and I won a couple good pots and worked my way up to 2 /6. I stayed in 2nd place until there were 3 left.

Unfortunately, as I was playing, with 5 left, I became ill! I think I got the damn flu. Been sick since Sunday PM.

I ended 3rd place and got NOTHING. I will say, the eventual winner of the Cruise couldn't lose a hand. He won hands he had no business being in such as K, 9 off, AIPF vs A,A and he hits 4 flush. He also did get good hands too.

I feel I played well and if not for getting sick I made a good run for the cruise.

PS. I am "whatheflush" on Juicy. You may notice there was another CC member made a good run.

I think you should play super Tight agressive

If you dont have the funds to ADDON which is the most important then you will need to have a nice stack before the break in order to compensate for the other players adding on. So play tight make sure you have the goods when you put money in the pot and that will ensure you are at least competitive in terms of stack size. Not to mention your table image will be good going this route. If all you show is premium hands then youll be able to steal later in the MTT a lot easier.

Rebuys are for suckers. Dont ever go into a tourny thinking "Great this is rebuy" You've already lost in your mind.
