Imo these are much better than SnGs, they have late reg and all and once it fills up, or an hour passes, the registration closes. There are more weak players and much less regs because they're not available hourly. So far I've mad some ITM finishes in these and once I finished 5th on a $1.10 250 cap.

Going to try playing $2.20 100 cap tonight because nothing else is on.

What are your opinions and experiences with cap tourneys?

must better than MTT's because of the variance factor and also better than SNG's because there tends to be a few more fish. As long as your making money then stick by it.

Yes i agree these can be pretty soft more often than regular sit n go's. I haven't played a lot of these only a few that i can remember and i did go deep (top 15) in a 1.10$ 1000 player cap. That was a long time back and thank you for reminding me. Now i am a bit interested and want to play some of these. :)

I concur, i really like those especially because it has limited numbers of players because MTTs at poker stars could be very anoying with +10K players...Personaly, i prefer tournaments with less players so caps are great for me (y)

Not making any money as of yet, just trying out all sorts these.

Risk Reward

I think the merit here lies in the field quality... Whether you have 10,000 players or 1,000cap, shouldnt make too much of a difference, should it?

If 20% of the field are paid, its 2000 from the first and 200 for the second.. The only difference being (and pokerstars likes to make it quite top heavy) that for a good run in the larger field will lead to a greater ROI.

I might have missed the point here, but at lower stakes you can be a winning (consistently ITM) player just by playing simple poker, there are lots of fish you can extract value from.

FYI, my bread and butter is the fifty50 SNG's which i find to be the easiest and generally softest fields.

I havent tried any cap tourneys ever but from what you say it sounds interesting to me so I will try these and I hope it will bring me some money.

Do you have any recommendations for me? Should i play tight or aggressive?

Lekoo, you cant really ask that question and expect a reliable answer...

You have to work out your own style, and you have to adapt to the table and the players there...

What the guy above me said, adapt to the situation. Mostly you should be tight, at least in early and mid phases, because people call too much and they'll take you to the showdown with pretty much any piece of the flop. I know sometimes it can be hard to ressist making plays where a normal player would buy it, but don't do it, at least try. Late in a tourney, you can loosen up, because most donks and calling-stations are knocked out, but only if the table dynamics allow it.

Good luck at the tables!!!

Yeah I would say that the table dynamics are everything, just stick to your premiums early on unless you have position then get in when the timing or pot is right. Use pot control when you can if you don't have the nuts or close to it. Your seeking value. You cant win the entire tourney in one hand, unless your heads up :)

I've placed in quite a few of these. The only problem that I've found with them is that sometimes there aren't enough players to justify the buyin. I tend to wait to see if they're filling up a bit before registering

Cap tourney are better than the regular IMO because it is easier to get ITM.

Nice tourneys, yes.

But the late reg is only 20 mins , not 1 hour :)

....and the money comes faster than in other tourneys.
