I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining because I have made decent money the past couple weeks and overall I'm happy with my game. But I cannot win a tournament to save my life. I have gotten 2nd a couple times and 3rd like 3-4 and then a buncha final table appearances but I just can't seem to finish. (These aren't monster stars tourneys maybe 100 people at the most and fairly low buyins 5-7$ or 3-4$ rebuy/addons so not the best competition). It's just sooo frustrating coming so close and constantly either getting sucked out on or being in short stack push/fold mode and shoving into monsters. Anyone know of some good endgame strategy guides?

I know this seems dumb and I should be glad for getting as far as I have been but consistently being 1 or two spots from double, or more, the pay day is extremely frustrating after spending 6 hours playing well and watching fish triple up in disgusting spots. Anyway just wanted to vent. Do you guys ever have weeks where you just can't seem to get the job done on the final table.

Story of my life... Always the bridesmaid never the bride

I played finals table where I had 120k chips, and the opponent with 7k chips .. and lost.i'd be happier if I dropped 6,7,8.
of course .. and I won tournaments (never big tournaments) and I will not avoid the impression that anyone enters the final table more aggressive, and that this will very likely win tournaments, ofcourse if BB equally divided

When it comes to heads up it does become a bit of a lottery.. The amount of times I have been ahead but couldn't get over the line is very annoying. The villain just seams to catch his one or two outer. Having said that I have won a lot from being behind to so overall its just variance, you will get there.

I don't know if you've ever read the golden archives here but there's some great stuff in there including this one https://www.cardschat.com/f49/your-first-final-table-146404/.

Obviously you've been to many final tables, but I'll bet there's something you can use in there.

Hadn't seen that one I've read a couple of guides on there. Generally some really good stuff. I'll check out that one and let you know. Thanks for the link

U have to become more aggressive or as aggressive as possible .meaning you must be bold an steal blindd relentlessly. Raise to steal whenever ur in a good spot. Dont worry about anyone picking up on you and 3 betting light. It doesnt happen very often in low buy in final tables cause everyones playing scarred.if they do 3 bet just release and keep doing it as much as you can. The power and benefit of stealing blinds in very late stage tournies is invaluable.

I definitely agree with this. I rarely have luck HU without playing very aggro. Also, spend some time reviewing your hand histories and look for any trends or leaks. For example, are you barreling the flop and then playing the rest of the hand passive? Any good player will pick up on these things quickly and torture you.

Obviously 3-bet this guy relentlessly, check-raise often & call down real light postflop = ez game

There is no 'one' strategy for final tables.... they are always situational >> player reads, stack sizes, ICM considerations.

Jokes aside though, the deeper you get into tournies, the tighter the 90% of the remaining field will be playing compared to how they were earlier. From my personal experience( and i do run deep sometimes). Stealing is very very important. An use ur hud to see if the blinds and button are running tight. If they are, EZ game indeed. And if they flat , a min flop bet works 99% of the time unless they hit the nuts so just give up after that if u havent improved.
