How to play against a calling station with big stack ??
This player not only calls most raises but sometimes cold calls if you 3bet an initial raiser. And if he has any pair then keeps calling till river and gets lucky by improving his hand till river by completing a draw or making silly 2 pair.

If you bet your AK on king high flop K 4 9 and he keeps calling bottom pair and makes two pair or trips till river. Then he makes a big bet on river or Shoves All in:mad: and then i have to make a big decision to call / fold. What can one do against such players ?? pretty annoying really .. :(

You want to get lots of value out of these players. Since they call so much.
The important thing to remember is that most passive players only bet with strong hands and I even seen some extremely passive players check down the nuts (best hand). If they show action I would give it up and fold with a nut like hand.

It is extremely important to remember that when they miss they probably will pay off the whole entire hand and that makes it worth while. That is why you still want to raise.

for example

I raise AA preflop. I bet the flop turn and river. calling station calls, calls, calls, and then shows down something very silly like a gutshot or a underpair.

Yes, at any time they might improve in a hand like this and beat me. If at any point during a hand like this they shove or raise big that is the caution signal to strongly consider folding.

This is excellent advice and something that I need to tattoo to my wrist. When the CS picks up a hand and raises, I need to have the discipline to let my hand go. Thanks.

Don't bluff. When you see a big check raise with a hand like bottom two pair, consider folding heavily. If they have a hand, they'll tell you anyway, so unless they do, just keep betting.

It's fairly easy. Just bet a lot and extract as much value as possible, yeah he might suck out on you but most of the time he won't, therefore it is gonna be very profitable. Also do not attempt to bluff, ever!

HaHa it def is annoying in those spots but you want those types of players @ your table. When you're on the opposite end of the hand, or when you've flopped the complete NUTz & they are drawing dead from the flop it's so not annoying!

If those type of players stick around long enough, they will pay you off eventually. Just keep your steamolosity & patience under control & you will be great :icon_thum

Something Phil Hellmuth said: don't go broke with just one pair.

It doesn't matter if you have AK and top pair+top kicker. You could have TT and flop comes rainbow 9 5 2. You would still have only top pair, with medium to small chances of making a better hand, while the calling station might hit two pair or better. If it's a drawing board it's even worse, as they chase flushes and straights like a dog chases his tail.
