If you call the all in pre flop changes as the mtt goes on. I feel early on you should be tight like a made hand pocket pair or AK. Later in the tournament you can open up your range with your chip balance, but so many you see calls that make no sense and take out the stronger player. Good cards to you.

Yea but sometimes you gotta go for it with a call to take 'em out.

In general, it is better to avoid situations where you need to call. It's better to move the chips to the center of the table when you shove.

You only ever CALL an all-in with AA or KK unless you're extremely short stacked in which case it's okay to go for it with more marginal hands like 77 or AK. AK/AQ/AJ are great for raising but never ever call huge raises with these hands unless you desperately need to double up.

my opinion is..
In one all-in pre-flop you must be careful
------------------------------------------------
1st In the place you are in...
2nd in the palsy that your opponents do..
------------------------------------------------

Keep HennieP view and add that it would be nice to pay attention to the type of game player (tight-aggressive or shark). Of course it is not all that we use to assess the situation (your seat at the table, etc.) and are the main factors on which I and many players decide - call or not? You decide.
* Know the failure goes hand in hand with luck! Even with the best hand you are not invincible.

Check is good for hands under AKQ to convinate a stright, flush or two pair per slow cost. Pre flop for hands good play agressive

In early I prefer to play very tight. Normally you have sufficient blinds to force 3bet, 4bet in the others hands that you'll be very safe.

I don't like call all-n on preflop, just on AA and KK.
I call all-in on AK a few times, and almost every time I lose. :(

Judging by the fact that almost every program or manager now needs to change tactics periodically in the whole tournament, if you have already thrown off 20 times before putting everything in accordingly, vryatli normal person, even with AK preflop, will go all in with you

I go all in preflop only if I have AA. Everything else is more risky. Sometimes I go all in with KK but very rare.

I prefer to improvise in the early stages and play a large amount of hands. I'm not just waiting for a pair or AK, AQ, AJ and so on

In the initial phases of a tournament it is not necessary to play all in with middle hands because you run the risk of being eliminated, I only play all in with hands premiun, however if you are in a situation where you have less than 10BB if you must hurry and Pick a hand and play an all in. It all depends on the situation in which one is.

From my small experience I have noticed that you can't only call with the total monsters because in the long term you gonna lose so much value!

Observe and act , for instance sometimes even a call with Q high will be profitable against a loose aggressive player who pushes very often in order to intimidate the tighter players of his table! Don't forget that everything in poker depends from many many factor and its solution is not as simple as a linear equation!

HennieP I never fold AK or QQ to all in shove. Even with with 2 other callers. Cause only 2 hands beats QQ and 2 hands crush AK. If they have those hands then good for them but I am not folding.

Its not your job to take people out, but if you think you have their range beat and it makes sense icm wise then go for it.

It's situational really. I've been able to open up from ATs+ and AJo+ from MP @ 12+bb in turbos and hyper turbos because I've played like a nit in the early stages and have developed a really strong table image.

The action mentioned in the thread is irritating, especially when you have such great expactations connected with your pocket hand and some kind of a fish shoves all in on pre-flop. At this stage a great dilema arises - whether to fold and feel pity next 3 rounds or to shove in back and turn white hair while seeing his hand and next 5 cards. The answer of course depends on many factors such as your position, reads, stack volume and so on and so on, but still after having read lots of info on this forum I still haven't found a right answer for me...
